Paint Oak Kitchen Cabinets??

chicarivas's picture

Good Morning! I'm tired of how dark the oak cabinets make my kitchen and I'm thinking of painting them ... any suggestions on what I should paint them? The kitchen is an olive green with a mottled brown tiled floor... I'm thinking something in the cream family, but on the cooler shade .. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

hi,

good morning, all i can say is use the white color because it match whateevr color you have at home. though the dirt is so visible but it's makes the house looking great and clean. it is good for the eyes always also.

Hello chicarivas,

Painting cabinets is an easy way to update the look of your kitchen without undergoing a complete renovation. Here are a few ideas you could consider:

White paints for cabinets: http://www.houseandhome.com/design/search-right-white

Cabinet refacing: http://www.houseandhome.com/design/re-facing-kitchen-cabinets

Enjoy your new cabinet colour,

If they are really good oak cabinets I really would want to leave them alone because of the quality of the wood or.....

1. Sand them down to lighten up the color and then reseal them with poly.

2. Sand them down and then try pickeling the wood with white paint. Brush it on and the gently wipe it off letting it soak into the wood. Repeat until you get the look you want and then poly.
