years ago we like many others used semi gloss for all walls....well of course that has changed, for some years now we use velvet, low lustre or whatever each company calls it, but we always still used the semi gloss in the kitchen and bath area. I heard yesterday, if you buy a good enough paint, that says scrubble and so on, which i always check for anyway, that you dont have to use semi gloss in kitchens and bathrooms anymore.....i much prefer the low lustre paints....what does everyone use in thier bathrooms and kitchens? this advice came from a paint expert who does paint homes for a living

i use eggshell in kitchen and bath and most of the area around the house...i use flat in my bedroom
I used Perma-white, a water based, self priming paint by Zinsser in both my bathrooms. It is low odour and can be tinted any colour. It has held up amazingly well. It has a relatively low sheen, close to a "satin" finish, I am guessing.
the same eggshell paint in our kitchen that we used in the rest of our house in the kitchen and bathroom with no problems. There was a glossier paint in our bathroom when we moved in and you could always see water marks ect.
