The Painted Round Table

Hi,

After receiving so much help with my DIY project, I thought I should post the before and after pictures. Here is the original thread: http://forums.houseandhome.com/showthread.php?t=25537&highlight=Transform&f=12

Here is the table prior to painting:

and the pedestal, which I love...

I sanded and primed the table. I used BIN 123 to prime. I should have had it tinted though...Anyway, I used Ralph Lauren Turret Stair (a deep chocolate brown) recommended in my original thread. I love this colour so much! For the table top, I sewed a round fabric topper and covered that with a glass topper. All in all, it was a great project, but being a perfectionist, it took me a long time to complete.

Here is the table now:

Sorry the pics aren't great but I think you get the idea.

I'm still searching out chairs. I have a toddler so easy maintenance is key and the table is in our kitchen -- so appropriate casual chairs are what I am looking for...I am not fond of the chairs that came with the set. I'd rather add contrast with a cream or white wooden chair with clean lines...Haven't decided yet...

Thank you for all the much needed help and suggestions. :)

I just wanted to post to say thank you for the inspiration and the how-to on houw you painted your table! I have been debating on painting my bedroom furniture, but I am/was worried that it would look cheap if it was painted instead of stained...

Your table looks great, and is just what I needed to make my decision, and get excited for my own DIY project!

Thank you!!

Good morning!

Just got my little one off to nursery school and that in itself feels like an Olympic event!

Thank you very much for the compliments. I love how the table turned out! The glass topper and cloth idea came from one of Peter Fallico's old shows. I liked the idea of using the cloth as a design element. Just the plain table looks great too, but I find that even using foam rollers left a "painted wall effect" instead of a truly smooth finish. I actually bought the glass table topper for only $8 from a seller on an Used.com site and that was truly a big bargain buy!

Pearl_Girl, I love those chairs, too. I have to get out to a Sears store to see them in person, I think. Lass, I was going to paint the chairs but I am not in love with the style. I'd paint them and then always want another set! (Knowing my obsessive personality! )

Again, many thanks! I'm in the middle of painting out my kitchen. Last May I posted pics asking for help with it, and now I've finally begun the job. The original walls were a butter yellow and the one wall featuring the bay window was a deep navy. I think the previous owner was going for French Country but it missed the mark.

So, I painted out the walls with CIL's Toasty Grey to tie in the ceramic tiles and countertop. I just finished the ceiling with CIL's Minimalist White. I plan on painted the upper cabinets in the Minimalist White as well (in melamine paint) and the bottom in a deep brown.

I can't wait to have this project completed! :p
