Painting bubbles

OK. I want to paint bubbles in my kids bathrooms. I got inspired by a shower curtain I found. I know the colors I want to use, I have 5 different colors.

If I buy a quart for each color, there will be TONS leftover.
The bathroom is small and I really only have 3 walls to paint, the bathtub takes up a whole wall.

My question is, Is there another way of buying paint so I'm not stuck with so much?

is right on. I use that craft paint for murals too. So much easier to control also and the drying time is a lot less. You can water it down to creat a translucency also. A light hand goes a long way. Make your bubbles darker on the edge and almost nothing in the middle, slightly off centre and a bit of white in the colour, add a rounded highlight about an inch from the edge, depending on the size of bubble and voila - a bubble! Good luck

Ok, maybe this is way out there guys...but what about those little bottles of acrylic paint sold in the craft section of most stores for $2 or less? I think they are for tole painting or something but there's usually a huge array of colours to choose from. Also, you could try the paint that is actually made for stencilling. I'm pretty sure that if you add a small amount of paint at a time, you'll be able to acheive a kind of translucent look. (Perfect for bubbles)
Just a thought,
Mel

transparencies, you can make bubbles on your computer and print them !!!! Nice round bubbles that way, too.

Or go to any staples store and buy a pack of transparancies.

i.e. a clear plastic sheet, doesn't absorb paint and being clear helps lineing it up where you want it - that's what Miss Debbie uses all the time anyway ;)

likely available at craft stores (i.e. Michael's) or art supply stores (i.e. Wallacks/Loomis&Toles in Ottawa but probably pricier) - they might also have it at big box reno stores that also sells pre-made patterned stencils and brushes/paints, although I never looked for it there

if you don't need very large size, transparency film for overhead projectors could also work - available at office supply stores or beg/borrow a few sheets from someone who uses it regularly

Canadian Tire also sells Debbie Travis's new paint line in sample pots for $4.00.
Between the 2 you should find the colours you want. Sounds like a fun projest for sure...

I'd suggest just going to your Benjamin Moore dealer.......and buying their little sample size jars -- they're about $5.00 each and each container would paint more bubbles than you'd ever need!!! Your idea sounds very fun for your bathrooms!! Good luck!!
