OK

I did not have to reposition the bottom cupboards since the oak piece was on the top. I just made the drawer fronts 1 inch deeper so that they covered the gap.
Pearly Whites,
What did you do for the bottom cupboards? You said that you made new drawer fronts for the drawers...so what did you do to compensate for the 1 inch on the bottom cupboards? I think you may have convinced my husband to let me do this! LOL
I used Polar Bear by Behr paints (Home Depot). It's a nice warm colour, not too stark. It washes really well too.
Wow! Those look fantastic! I also am looking to paint my identical cabinets. What's the name of the white that you used?
Wow! That looks absolutely fantastic! I am not sure if I can do that!
What a great reno! And all for $300.00.
Thanks for the insperation!
yuur kitchen looks So much better & for only $300. Wow! Great update and great job!
After:
I primed with BIN 123 primer. Used Behr 100% acrylic paint. Removed the oak trim. Added panel moulding to the fronts to add dimension. Lowered the doors to compensate for the gap left by removing the oak. Used crown moulding on the top to compensate for the gap left by lowering the doors. Made new drawer fronts from MDF to cover the gap on the bottom from lowering the doors. Total cost: about $300 and 1 week of work (I did it alone, so much faster with help)
OOPS!! trying again
Here are my cupboards before:
Is the paint durable enough? I really can't stand my cupboards but can't afford to replace them at this point in time! Should I put handles on as well??? Or just paint them white? My walls are Waterscape by Behr, so the walls are quite dark. Any suggestions or help pleeeeze!
My sister did them in her old house. I think that she just used a melamine paint and one of those great white foam rollers.
I have seen Debbie Travis do them on her show as well. She did them in shades of blue. I don't know what she used though.
Hi:
I,too, am in need for this information. My cabinets are melamine, cream in color with oak strip on the bottom. Vintage 1980's. I would like to paint them white (including the wood trim) to update them.
I have checked the www but cannot find any help.
If you have any ideas please post.
Many thanks!
I would love to see those pics! Are they on this forum? That would be great!
The last time I looked at her pictures, she had primed the cabinets with the oak trim. I don't know if she's finished... I'm sure if she is she'll post some pictures soon.
