painting over wallpaper

Can I paint over previously wallpapered walls? The wallpaper has been removed but there is still a layer of paper/glue that is almost impossible to get off. Is there a primer that I can use before I paint?

I would suggest you to first clear the remain wallpaper layers from the walls and then go for painting. You can seek professional help in this or else try to do it by your own by reoving it using dampened cloth.
