Where do people keep them in their homes?
I recently adopted 2 small dogs and have a small crate for 1 and a larger crate for when I need to "contain" them temporarily and the other larger dog sleeps in that one. The larger crate is in the middle of the kitchen because I thought they could keep their eye on me while I was cooking. The smaller one is in the entranceway but I'm curious as to where other people keep theirs.

Place the crate in an area of your house where the family spends a lot of time, such as the family room. I personally feel that pets should be kept out of kitchen, specially since they shed hair.
We had a big laundryroom in the last house and both crates were kept there. Doors were never closed, instead we had a 'gate' to keep them in the room so they could wander around.
