It looks awesome, JanetC, your careful planning paid off. What's the next project?

BTW, I've used Beauti-tone and it's pretty good, I thought. Their exterior paint is terrific, I used it to paint the ceiling and trim on the porch (what a job that was).

i actually used the Beauti tone paint chip but had it color matched at walmart as the Home Hardwood store was closed....however i have bought the beauti tone paint for my bedroom but have not tried it out yet...that will be DH's next job lol Ask jenjen, i believe she used the beauti tone and really loved it. My curtains and throw are actually a red red, if that makes sense, just the camera doesnt show the colors too well lol, thank you for your compliments!

It looks great Janet! Glad to see you are using the rusty red as accents. Love the yellow colour you chose.

How did you find the Beauti-tone paint?
I am ready to paint our guest room, and almost choked when I saw the new prices for BM. Beauti-tone has a special on now, and I want to try it, also because the store is nearby.

I don't mind it, but her indoors is not keen on leathers sofas, but doesn't mind having them as placement mats on the dining table :)

with all the leather i've had i've never found it any colder in the winter than in the summer...and i've never found it sticky in the summer..

janetc's picture

found ours cold in the winter, than again they say if your climate is adjusted..in the winter with the heat on our body heat adjusted within seconds, and i hear in the summer with air conditioning it keeps you from sticking

I like leather sofas as well, but in the winter, it does get a bit cold to sit on, even though you might have the heater going.

thank you, it does feel warm and that is what i was trying to achieve

so far, that is..........we love the leather furniture so much, i couldnt see going back to fabric...as much as i love the look of the different fabric sofas....the leather is so easy and comfy i might add...and the ottomon (even thought faux) i cant believe how much it is used...from cocktail table to games table...too me its made the family room, just that a family room!

no this cat is not into bondage...however the leather would be fine with me if it were in a color such as red

pearl, thank you for your compliments...the bottom part of the dining area will not be painted out completely....just a little warmer color( perhaps just like one shade warmer than what is there) as it should be freshened up....i did consider the lighter tone from the living room as it does need to flow or the warm tone from the bottom part of the dining area..oh i NEED to go to winners lol

I would go for something in a different with materail so everyhting is not leather. Unless of course you're into bondage then go for it! :)

Your LR looks so warm and comfy with the new colour. I would not paint the lower part of the DR area. If you find it stark then just tint some white paint with a little of the gold colour to warm up the white. I would also not put solid red curtains up on the DR window, maybe a soft multi- stripe with some of the red colour in the pattern.

The left over gold colour, from what I remember from your previous photos, would be nice in your hall either as is or again lightened up some with white.
This would certainly add continuity to a smaller space.

You have undergone quite a transformation in the LR/DR area and it looks lovely. Great job and certainly show where patience in choosing a colour paid off. :)
Oh Winner's had trays in a fake leather look for $20. If I remember the trays came in red, dark brown and cream. Also, I have seen trays in dark bamboo wood which may be a nice change from adding any more leather in the room.

or Zellers, take your lamp shade with you. Pick a couple different ones for size, style & colour and bring them home to demo for us. I can't tell what colour the lamp is. You could also bring home a lamp to test. lol.

Maybe you'll find that leather tray too. Might as well check out the pillows while your there. And I think Zellers has their curtains on clearance just in case you have decided against the red. I like the red with your lovely new wall colour. Good choice.

all so much for putting up with me and helping me in my decision, you all need a pat on your backs as this living room wouldnt look this good if it werent for the help and encouragement from all of you. Everytime i walk into the room im in awe....and DH is likeing it much better as well...i told him it would become less bright the more it dries, and as it stands im not finding it bright at all.

Decor guy..........oh no the bottom part of the dining room will NOT be painted out the same as the walls, lol you have inspired me to keep it a different color than the rest of the walls, i dont want it to disapear, just perhaps a warmer color as i need to do the hallway as well, so thought i would do both the same color to unify it.

jenjen....oh i hear you about the peace and quiet when they are sick lol

once again thank you all so much

Great job....the color goes so well with the couch. Your room still looks bright but also warm.

I think it looks great just the way it is! I don't think I would paint the bottom half. I don't know if I would do red curtains in the DR either. Not sure what colour though. I do think you need a new lamp shade in the LR. Something bigger - maybe a drum shade.

Looking very good.... :)

Janet.... dont paint the lower half !!! :) If you just want to get rid of it, go dilute it and use it in a bathroom..hehe or 1/2 -1/4 strength in the kitchen

yes could do that jenjen...but i may scare myself...i dont do well judging color...DH still thinks this color is a little on the bright side....and it is somewhat brighter than what the pictures show....however the people that have seen it in real life have liked it.......i hope your family is well over the flu now and back up and running

they're feelin' a lil better...but i kinda sorta like it when they're sick....really small kinda sorta...cuz then everyone just lays there and leaves me alone for a lil while...oh once mr. c's eyes adjust to the colour and everything is back up on the wall...and finger prints and all that good stuff...it won't look so bright...ok yea you need to be brave girl...go get a funky colour and use it in your bedroom!!! :D

Oh janet! It looks fantastic! So warm! The red is a beautiful accent with the gold. You must be so pleased. Pat yourself on the back for a well chosen colour and give your husband a hug from us for making it happen.

We've waited so long for this!! It was so worth it. Congratulations!

kipper

p.s. I might use a quarter strength gold for under the chair rail, half might still be too yellow.

I love it!! The color is beautiful!!
