DH and I have just moved in to our first home and I need help accessorizing.

Here are some pics of our fireplace (corner unit). Any thoughts on how we can accessorize? Our furniture is taupe coloured leather with espresso coloured legs and we have a chocolate brown ottoman in this room.

UPSTAIRS LOFT/OFFICE:

I would like this space to become the office/upstairs family room. This would not be the main TV room but would be used on occasion. I would like to design this space for scrapbooking & managing the household (ie. paying bills etc.).

Thanks for the help!

in most programmes, at the top under "image" or maybe "edit" will be a choice "resample" or "resize"; I use Photo-paint, and I can use inches, pixels etc.

One of the best buttons in any programme I use is the one on the very left - labelled "help" - I can figure out most things from the index it offers, and have many pages printed !!!

I bought a good but inexpensive picture manipulating program from London Drugs (about $30) called ROXIO. It has a feature called "resize" and brings up the dimensions in pixels, which makes it super easy. I just change the pixel size to the one recommended on this site. I can do it with pics rom the web, my own, and scanned stuff.

I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to do it with MS paint, though I'm sure you can!

for re-sizing my pics....I couldn't figure out how to go back and re-size them!

I will have to get back to you about the dimensions because this was a bedroom that we converted into an open "loft" space. The window you see on the right was actually inside a walk in closet.

Tips on posting smaller pics would be appreciated too!

space, I am just ]green with envy !!! All that light and space ! I am sure you could have a fabulous "office" space up there.

I would try and put 2 small filing cabinets on either side of the big window, and a desktop on top of them; if you also want a computer there, I would right angle onto one of the side walls, probably the long one on the left. A shelf above it for accessorizing, and a shallow closed cupboard under the small window for supplies.

I usually work with a very limited budget, but I am thinking of 12" deep kitchen cupboards for the supplies, and matching wood for desktop, shelves etc.

do you have dimensions ??

pic of the fireplace is much too large! I can't see it all at once on my screen: and so can't advise!

But just a thought about that landing area: I am a scrapper. And I know how much room supplies take up! And how unweildly they are: and how few attractive storage units there are! This room seems absolutely open: I would be afraid of the "mess" being out all the time!

I'd suggest another use for this space unless you can conceal everything! (And you haven't much wall space here for cabinetry!) Still, with all that light: I'd be sporely tempted too!

This is Donna Downey's scraproom. I don't know her at all. Got this from May's blog entry! She has further details there...It is one of the few I've seen that doesn't look at all like a utility/craft room! You might also try www.twopeasinabucket.com and check out the various scraprooms posted there.

Good luck!
