We want to plant cedars to make a hedge in place of putting a fence. We want the height a hedge will give us and the look. How do we know how many cedars we will need and how far apart do we plant them so they will grow together. We don't want to crowd them as we want them to grow tall. Our patio and windows in the house look right into the neighbours.

We did this at our last house. Depending on the size of the cedars, you should look at about 18"-24" intervals. Some cedars can handle a 12" interval while others i.e pyramidal might require a bit wider.
