What...in Neverland
you can always be thinner, your hair can always be blonder and your teeth can always be whiter
I can understand. I very close friend of mine has one because she couldn't stand the back pain any longer. I don't consider this atypical plastic surgery, more of a necessity.
My friend that died from a tummy tuck wore a size 8!
like to add to Norm's comments. Large breasts cause severe back strain and pain. Most often a breast reduction is done for reasons other than 'self-image' and are covered under provincial health plans.
I really wish tummy tucks could cure backaches.
My Sil, who works for a hospital had a tummy tuck about 10 years ago and 5 years later a breast reduction. She never discussed this prior to either procedure ( except with her hubby ). I was very surprised to hear about this until just last year. Truthfully, I would never have guessed. She has never worn much makeup or cared about clothes much. She has a busy life with her job and 3 kids. Julianne, your sad story made me think of this. My Sil is a very smart lady and more importantly a devoted mom, fully informed of all risks. I am sure your friend was the same and for anyone to suggest that she put her self image ahead of her family, are so wrong. These are very personal decisions, made for many different reasons.
So you are sexist, as well as a bigot I see? I am entitled to my opinions, just like you are, and this a public forum, not your livingroom by the way ;)
If anyone should be banned, it should be you for your personal attacks, that are against the forum rules
I personally do not like the male member who spends so much time on here always criticising every word that is posted. You feel like saying " get off my thread", but you don't.
There has to be other forums far more interesting to the male gendre.
IT...what does it mean? I could guess it means Internal Instigator.
The only reason I can see it is permitted to go on, and on and on, is because he is hiding under Phil.
I mean how can Phil ban Glas. to let him regroup?
Why do you always fly off the handle, when the rest of us are just having simple discussions about whatever subject has been posted. They are just our personal opinions there are no right or wrong answers
My sister had that done in the UK, and she now has a vision better than 20/20, She is a legal eagle, so she needs her eyes wide open ;)
when i was 3 I was bit by a dog. Over the years I have had people ask me about the scar on my face. It's not that huge and has become part of my face I don't even see it anymore.
When I was in my teen, I had one doctor ask me if I wanted plastic surgery. I was rather shocked. It never occured to me that I was ugly or the scar was that obvious. I find it to be an interesting conversation piece. Now that I'm getting "mature" it just looks like wrinkles.
Plastic surgery - I feel horrible just colouring my hair. Different generation with different views on staying real.
Wait - let's talk lazer eye surgery - if I had the money.......
are for health reasons as well and are covered. My mom had her eyes done as she was worried that as she aged, she would end up not being able to see like my grandmother because of sagging eye lids.
Nah...they will rather their partner doesn't go through all that. Most guys will steer at plastic jobs, but won't want it to be their wives, being steered at, with people making snide remarks
the male population would appreciate you speaking on their behalf
I know several women who have had breast augmentation, and they have no regrets. My mother got an eyelid lift, and so did my boss (a man), as did a co-worker. When I think about it I actually know a lot of people who havee chosen to get adjusted.
Now I recently had laser eye surgery and some may say it's because I am too vain to wear glasses - not the case. I look damn good in glasses. I did it for better vision, not to look better.
What I meant was, guys wouldn't want their partners in artificial ways, contrary to popular beliefs. Guys talk about these things and oogle them, but they don't want their wives looking like that.
A C section is a total different case, even David Beckham's wife has gone through it twice now .
I can tell you most guys don't care for knives incisions anyway, and they think it's a bit of an eyesore, so perhaps people might want to think about that.
seems a bit of a generalization to me. what about cesarian sections scars then?still unsightly given the nature of the surgery? or is it just the scars resulting from plastic surgery that are an eyesore for men to bear?
given that these women are doing it for themselves and not living to please the men in thier lives then they wouldn't care what they (men) would think of thier surgery scars.
juliennev...i am sorry to hear of your friends complications and the impact it has had on her family and friends who have lost her. it is a real shame that could have been avoided for sure but she wouldn't have done it knowing the tragic conclusion i'm sure.
would prefer a knife scar over excess skin?????
Some people just don't know when to stop, you have 2 kids, why the hell would you still trying to look like some front page magazine photoshoped model? I guess she wasn't thinking of her family, just her own selfish self

what is right for one person may not be right for the next. some women wear more cosmetics than others to make them appear younger or attractive. that too is a personal decision. same goes for designer clothing and jewellery...all these embellishments may boost your self esteem and there is nothing wrong with that. there may be self image issues closely associated with plastic surgery that others may not be aware of. if plastic surgery is used as a tool to enhance your self esteem then i think it is a healthy measure but if it is used to cover psychological issues then there is more there than your skin that needs to be addressed. JMO.
personally i would indulge in a breast lift and burn my bras forever!:D
is still surgery ... you are put out and lots of thinks can and do go wrong. A very close friend of mine went in for a tummy tuck, 3 days later she died from complications. She was 38 and left 2 children under 6 and a husband. I ask myself why did she do it? It was her vanity, she still wanted to wear a bikini -- what a shame.
I have a friend who has had breast implants (twice); she seems happy enough........
I'm not sure about adding things though........to each their own. I'd have my nose done in a heartbeat of I could muster the courage...lol.........
Botox sound interesting but then again it's that adding thing I can't get past.
My best friend has had a massive weight loss after gaining through illness and her tummy sags and I mean really sags; she has considered a tummy tuck. I'll support her decision which ever way she goes.
sweetie
but I have a gfriend (43 or so) who had a tummy tuck. Now I don't know if they think by giving it a cute name it will somehow seem like not such a big deal but for her it was. She did not have any complications like infection etc, but she was in serious pain - plus they did lipo to contour her waistline - double ouch. I would never consider that, but my stomach is not a problem area for me.
Had Botox done on forehead between eyebrows - definately helped - left it 6 months between visits although it is recommended to go 3-4 months.
Worked for me - surgeon did not recommend any on forehead now.
Also visit with a dermatologist and get micro dermabrasion done on face (not surgery or injections) + regular facials, manicures and pedicures - nothing wrong with a regular maintenance schedule!
Clean skin regularly day and night.
HTH Lily - not even going to get into the whole judgemental thing - do what works for you and what is safe - I am not here to judge anyone. I would actually get a facelift and a breast lift if I was not so darned scared about going under!
lily....if you are happy with the way you look, i would not do it just because your friends are doing it and dont forget no procedure is without possible complications....remember the inner beauty, that is what really counts...
smiles

But of course, YOU are right, all the time on all things.
At least I am real.........
You know what? I am going to request a thread for you, so that you can slag me off there personally, instead of hijacking people's thread to have a go at me
The original poster didn't say anything, but well of course you are the speaker of the house. I am going to report you to the admin, before this gets out of hand.
ya i wouldn't do a facelift tho'...i'm talkin' other ''problem'' areas.... :D
My friend Linda has had two mini facelifts and she is going to have another one in a year or so, She is 60 but she looks 40 (of course she was also gorgeous to begin with). She thinks it really is not such a big deal pain-wise, but you have to keep up with another one every six or seven years. When she pulls her hair back, you can see a fine silvery scar along her hairline. I don't think I'd do it myself, but I think everyone has a different reason. Why not wait until one of your friends has it done, and then you can see first hand how much pain she had and how good the result was :)
havent' had any done...but personally...i would...have considered it...and have the funds available should i decide to thru with it
Perhaps your was the honest answer?
Never changed my tune, I guess I was appalled by how judgmental you are.
But of course, YOU are right, all the time on all things.
