i'm so glad you mentioned the importance of being careful with ou info. I felt kinda of bad i held my 1st name back, because i did want to share some info. The province i live in already shows, i gave my profession - if i were to give my name my 1st name i am pretty sure anyone could fine me!

it wasn't the internet as we know it now of course. but it had the basics. somedays i miss gopher.
my university had it's own version, but i could chat with my friends at other schools.
those were the days when everything was black and green and i was the only person in the computer lab :D
I'm curious, how were you on "the Internet" in 89? It was merely a gopher back then and not available to the public....Just curious :)

i just want to warn people about sharing so much personal information online. this is a wonderful forum and it seems like a good group of people, but the internet is not safe. it is very easy to track down much more information about a person by knowing just a few details.
would you want your kids to tell someone online their names, ages and what towns they lived in? information like that is best kept to personal emails, or keep your first names off of it.
i realize this sounds a bit harsh, but besides a love of decorating, i am a software designer who knows a lot about what *really* goes on behind the scenes. i have been online since 1989 and have seen how things have really taken off, and changed.
i am thrilled to see so many women connected and bonding and finding friendships across the country.
just please think carefully about personal information you share.
