I bought a house recently and unfinished pond with it (liner is broken). My backyard is rather small and I really would like to have this pond to look like a retrieve and mask some noise from the road, not an eysore, as it is right now. I know it's not complicated to do it yourself, but we can not do heavy lifting and therefor I called couple companies for quote. Now I feel very depressed - 8 to 10K!? I think this is outrageous! I thought I could buy a pond kit on internet, but I will still need some labor and proper installation. Do you have any advise, experience?

Have you thought about putting in one of the "hard" plastic ponds - it might be an easier DIY project than replacing the liner - it might be a bit neater as well. I've never attempted anything like this, but I think you can get them at Canadian Tire or Home Depot. They might offer some classes, or installations...
Just a thought...
Thanks for moral support, Pearl. Yes, I guess I'll wait until students will be available next year, then I'll organize something.
I am sure many larger garden centres sell new pond liners and also try the pool companies. It will not be operable until year when you can hire a couple of college kids to do the lifting and rolling of the larger rocks. The shipping may be high ordering it from the Net, as I think they are heavy. It is a lovely looking oasis to be, :)
