Portabella Spinach Pizzettes

Well I am not usually one who buys mushrooms, but the other day I was grocery shopping and I happened to walk by the mushroom counter. There were these tear off recipe things hanging up so I took one to look at. There was a recipe on there called a Portabella Pizzette. Now I have never tried a portabella mushroom, and ususally stick to whites, if the recipe calls for them. So I decided to take a gamble and make it for dinner. I gathered up all the ingredients, which was a surprise (there were only 6 ingredients) everything was so simple. I made them for dinner and they were just Fantastic!! The next time I make them I wil likely bake them on a pita bread or something, to give it more of that pizza feel. Has anyone else tried this recipe? The tear off paper said it was from mushrooms.ca
I would love to try portabellas again, does anyone know of any good recipes or places to find recipes?
Thanks for your help.

I actually took a chance on the weekend and tried a shiitake recipe. I got it off the site that was on that tear-off grocery store card.

I was really surprised that they were rather good, and the recipe was not that hard to make, very simple.

If you like mushrooms so much here is the recipe I tried, maybe you will like it.www.mushrooms.ca/recipes/recipe.aspx?ID=46

Oh, and I was sure to look for some Portabella recipes for you, because you like them so much, here is one that you might try... www.mushrooms.ca/recipes/recipe.aspx?ID=34

mushrooms just have a very earthy flavour to them. I actually made a stirfry with all these different types of mushrooms last night. I used shitake and oyster and one other kind. My husband loves lobster mushrooms but we couldn't find those yesterday. My fav is still portobello though.

Thanks guys! :)
I took a look at the CanadianLiving.com website, they have some pretty good recipes, but I also looked at the website that was on the tear off (www.mushrooms.ca) and they had a lot of good recipes on there, even for vegetarians!!
I never would have thought that mushrooms were soo good!! They just add that much more flavour to your meals.
I think next I might try something more exotic like shiitakes. Do they have a similar taste to portabellas?

i'm a vegetarian so i venture into all the vegetables i can :). I LOVE portobellos. I love bbq them too...just marniate them for a bit and then bbq them. A good place to get recipes is william sonoma...some of theres are to die for...my DH just did pork chops with an apricot glaze and the other day he made lamb chops with thyme and mint and all... smelt real nice :) He's trying to get me to start eating meat. I'm going to look for the recipe you tried.
