Puffed wall art for kids rooms?

Has anyone attempted to make this type of wall art? It's fabric with batting stuffing and attached to the wall? I am thinking of making it myself? Curious to see if anyone else has tried???

Maybe I should post pics of how it looks, if I'm not clear with the description??

my mom (years back) made our names - and apparently it was easy because she has been meaning to teach me to do the same for my 18mo old. Let me know how it goes!!

hmmm... this is something I wondered! So you can pull it off without sewing! LOL I was concerned that it was tricky this way. Somehow the way you explain it I think I could pull it off. I am thinking of doing some monkey(s) for nursery for new baby due in Nov.

Thanks for the advice, if I'm any where near successful I will post pics!! LOL

I made it as an art project once in highschool

all u need is cardboard, felt, cotton pillow stuffers and felt glue~

cut the cardboard in the shape of what u want... Ie: a star, outline of an elephant

then cut the felt around the shape plus 50% more around the edges

then glue all sides of the felt to the back of the cardboard leaving 1 edge open for stuffing (leave a little le-way so the felt has room to puff up)

stuff the shape with cotton

glue the last edge

and then cut out shapes of eyes, nose, etc. and glue onto ur shape

I haven't made this, but I have done some sewing and I don't think it would be very hard to do. I've used the fleece batting for non-quilt sewing projects, and I had no problems with my sewing machine. I'd be sure to use washable fabric so It could be laundered easily. If it is adhered to the wall with those stick-on velcro bits, just make sure the soft ones are on the fabric and the hard loops are on the wall. (the hard loops are more tricky in the washing machine because they snag fabrics quite easily)
