'Pursing' business

I have an idea about new type of purse. Ideally would be good to make a small sample line to see how it will go. But where do I start? :hairpull: Do you know any small purse-factories in GTA? Also do I have to get a patent? How?
Any good good advise will be greatly appreciated!

the only time my purse touches a floor is if there is no choice. If it does touch a floor or anywhere I regard as icky I have individually packed whipes in the purse and in the car to clean it and my hands with.

I haven't carried a purse ever since loonies replaced $bills. I had sucha sore shoulder and went to the DR and he said it was from such a heavy purse with all the loonies in it. I carry a backpack and it is so handy I can slip it on 1 should if it is just a quick run in the store or if I am shopping I put it on both shoulders. DH always hands me his wallet keys and sunglasses when we go in the stores so he doesn't have to carry them. I do have a couple of clutch purses for when we go out but them it is only my C/C and D/L in it and thats it.

Did you guys read some study about how dirty purses are?.....because we put them on the floor in the car, peoples counters, public bathroom floors and sinks areas etc...apparently they can carry a lot of germs.......maybe they should come up with a "germ buster" that you can spray them regularly......anyways I agree the original idea was awesome but I am not much for purses....I can barely keep track of my 3 kids...to remember a purse would put me over................. :biglol:

I can't give up my purse - heck I can't even downsize it. My wallet - it's not a large one - has cards - credit, bank, health, phone, points, etc, coupons that I weed through regularily, COIN, a few $. Coin seems to be the biggest weight which I've taken to throwing into a collection pot. A tiny makeup bag with a lipstick, comb, chapstick & glasses cleaner rag. The rest is phone, keys, sunglasses (clip one), & sometimes a small one-half filled bottle of water, especially in the summer. Also my scrunched up grocery list. I've tried buying a more expensive but smaller purse to make myself carry less. It just doesn't work. None of this stuff on it's own weighs much - I just can't give any of it up.

This city has a terrible reputation for women being attacked for their purse so we are encouraged to put stuff in our pockets. Heck - my coat pockets have gloves and kleenex for the winter sniffles & summer allergies. I just can't figure what I would give up. I love purses but not the kind with a thousand compartments. Who in h*lls bells can remember where they tucked what?

I did buy a lightweight, over the neck sholder bag designed for travel - a zippered compartment for my passposrt & a hook for my keys. It does get heavier with my little digital camera - better that than forgetting it on a restaurant table or something else stupid I might do. This purse has a silver lining - I guess to make it brighter for seeing what's in it. And my wallet and makeup bag are bright colours rather than black so if I set them down they will be more visible. (Note - I've lost more than one black item in my life).

Oh & for Cathie - I've always learned to carry that quarter or loonie for the grocery cart.

I really think I've pared down quite well - I've looked while others are opening their bags - I think I'm almost naked by comparison.

LOve purses, hate carrying them. Meanwhile between wallet, sunglasses, and all the other things I seem to need I end up with a big purse. Usually if I know I am going to be on my feet a while (like roaming a home show) the purse doesn't get to come. I'm much happier when I have clothes on with enough pockets so I can leave the purse behind.

I never carry a purse either. If it doesnt fit in my back pcket...or my coat pocket...it doesn't come with me!!! However, that is in fact a clever idea.

Geez...I never carry a purse....I always just have my debit card in the back of my pocket......I just hate having to remember them......i guess I am weird.....the funniest thing is when I had babies...I rarely carried a diaper bag........no baggage for this woman.........LOL..... seriously though...is there anyone else that hates having a purse?....my 3 year old owns more purses than me......................

Kate Spade became famous for her simple bags and the interchangeable insert in the late 90's. It seems that over the years she dropped the lining and kept the simple design...mind you now shes got a ton of other styles. Her most famous purse is the original rectangular nylon bag .

I've checked out the web-collection of Kate Spade - they don't mention removable/interchangable inner bag. Was it dropped? I wander why? maybe it was patented by somebody else (just my speculations)..
But purses are nice, although pricy $$$!
luvtodecorate - thanks for the great reference! not that I have already other ideas, but just in case...interesting to read what people invented recently.

Great idea. Gues what...thats actually how Kate Spade became so famous. Her first line of bags had that ability. There was a black liner that would come out of the purse and easily fit into another one. I'm not sure she still provides that feature or not but it was a great idea and got her onto Oprah. I'm a purse freak...LOVE purses and I'm always too lazy too change em out...so they sit around and collect dust.

If you ever get another smart idea, go to www.halfbakery.com and do a search to see if someone else has thought of that idea or not.

I've seen those that also include a light so you can see what's in your purse. I think they are a great idea.

That sounds like a good idea to bad someone else beat you to it but that doesn't have to stop you from improving on it.

I don't know if anybody will still read this post, but I decided to give an update and disclose my 'genious' idea. I saw it yesterday in the store and bought it! I feel so relieved that it will not eat my mind any longer and somebody else was faster to put it into production. Thank you!
Anyway, here is short intro. Some ladies have several/many purses because you have to have different styles for different outlooks. But the problem is every time you have to transfer million things from one bag to another and it's very anoying to see how much clutter you have inside and there is always no time to clean it up. What is the result? The easiest just to stick to yesterday's purse that doesn't go with today's outfit, but at least it's black and it's like 'universal'. In the best case I transfer stuff but something gets forgotten in those inside pockets. It is always PAIN to change purses. What I was thinking - to make an inside bag with little pockets for cosmetics, cell phone and keys. When you need to transfer just zip it and move the whole content without even looking. Everything is inside and you don't check if you took it or not. It's easy and now I can actually use all my purses. :)
