That's funny...I can picture it.
I put it in those mini quiche shells once and did it under the broiler just for a moment (but you have to use real mayo and not Miracle Whip if you are going to do that)
The crab dip seemed to be a hit -- one guy was so excited that there was horseradish in it, he couldn't stop eating it!! And I noticed that he was dipping carrots in it -- I hadn't thought of using it as a veggie dip, but hey, why not?! :)
Thanks again for the recipe, and all the other suggestions :)
toasted or buttered and broiled are good...We did some with parsley butter and broiled them so they were crispy and golden  (it says rolleyes by this icon, but the expression makes me think MMM-MMM Good).
I'm thinking of using crispy rice crackers for dipping into the crab dip -- any suggestions for other good dippers??
i'm really glad it worked out for you. We made it for this Easter as well, and it went over big... :)
Thanks for all the suggestions :) I decided to make homebody's crab dip, with a few modifications -- I doubled the recipe, but didn't double the mustard & horseradish, used 3 green onions, added a dash of salt & pepper and a few extra dashes of Tobasco, and elimintaed the celery. Yum!! And super-easy to make :)
Go to www.kraftcanada.ca and look under entertaining they have lots and all their recipes are simple and not expensive to make. The first one I saw was an avacado and cilantro dip to serve with crackers or tacos. I am sure you can find a good one there.
If my computer gets fixed this weekend I'll go through my recipes. I could eat a whole meal of appies. Better than the main course.
Or jsut hit costco or president choice they ahve great appetizers like little pizzas that you can cook and serve cold
yes that one is a hit I usually use ham due to allergies to crab though
I make a crab dip, and it's better if you make it the day before...
One can of crab meat, drained
Two green onions, finely chopped
One stick of celery, finely chopped
Half of a slab of cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup mayo
dash of tabasco
One tbsp dijon mustard
One tbsp horseradish
You can make it with Flakes of Ham instead of crab meat if you like.
Put in enough mayo that it can be dipped out with a cracker or a chip, and you should be all set.
I've made this for a lot of different occasions and everyone seems to like it. You might want to double the recipe if there are going to be a lot of people, as the quantities above just make a small bowl full.
You can go www.epicurious.com and also www.foodtv.com. Those are the 2 sites I usually look into for recipes.
