"Quote" Question

Is it just me...???....

Is it always necessary to use the "quote" function?

I generally read thru the posts, therefore I understand when someone is 'answering' a question pertaining to his/or /her comments...

but I find lately all these quotes make for pages of posts...
without naming names, Glaswegian, ha, know you can handle it...
is there something I'm missing...
seems a while ago noone used this function.

The posts become long because of the constant quoting and a question you asked can be on page 3 very easily.
You can title your post to a specific member name and forgo all the quotes just as easily.

if you use a quote you are 'speaking" to a specific person

alot of times threads get so long if you are trying to rspoind to a specific post that is on page one and your post will be on page three it really helps to keep things straight. I like it personally,

The use of quoting has taken over the postings all of a sudden. I also get fed up and just pass by the many posts that included quotes and do not bother reading them.
It is all getting too tiresome...
