Rattan/mesh style shades - colour suggestions please!

I'm looking at Levolor's Natural Woven Shades (http://www.levolor.ca/products/natural-woven-shades/colors.php) for my son's bedroom, and I'm wondering what you think would be the best colour family to go with: a darker brown, a medium brown, or a natural off-white colour (see attached pics below for samples).

My son's room is small, south-facing, gets lots of sunlight. Walls are a creamy off-white, trim is white. I just bought Crate&Barrel Teal Baxter rugs. I might get Ikea Hermes bookshelf in grey-brown and probably the Tromnes bed, which is white metal tubing. His bedroom is the first thing you see when you get to the top of the stairs; the stairs and hallway have dark brown wood flooring and trim. The curtains are going; I'd like a thermal-insulated drape in maybe a natural linen or possibly a coloured pattern, depending on which shade I go with. I'm envisioning a subtle beach & ocean/South Pacific island/mildly nautical vibe for this room. (Ignore the Pooh border, he'll outgrow that in a few months and it'll come down then). I keep waffling between the 3 options and would love to have a second opinion. Thanks!

Reality is there is no real way to make up your mind until you do get those samples in that room. You may have a mental picture of light or dark and then completely flip when you see a medium that is a perfect match for the floor or vise versa. Get the Sears lady to bring as many samples as you need to be sure. They are used to that and would rather you be sure than second guessing yourself later.

Thank you so much for the helpful replies :)

I had at first envisioned a dark wood shade, but then started thinking a medium brown would be more versatile in that room, and then when I saw that the natural colour might work too I started having too many options! So based on your answers, I think I'll focus my attention on the medium brown options and try and choose a couple of favourites before I call the Sears lady to come over with her samples.

I hadn't even thought about the wood floor, until I took the photo. I agree with the comments about matching, I think I'd prefer something that didn't look as though I were TRYING to match the floor colour. In which case a dark brown or off-white might be better, but I think I'll still start with the medium brown options anyway, to begin with. (I know, it sounds as though I still haven't REALLY made up my mind...).

I vote for whichever is better with the wood floor colour since visually it may be weird to have something that is close but no cigar. I'm not sure we can tell that from photos so you may have to bring one of each home and see in real life which works best.

I would say the medium brown.  Could go with the natural off white if it is the true colour on my computer screen.  Can you buy a couple of styles/colours and try them in the room?  Even buy a ready made one (standard size) that you can take back from places like Home Depot/Rona/Lowes.

I vote for medium brown given the teal rug and grey/brown bookshelf. What does everyone else think?
