Re-painting a bathtub

that has been repainted before, was a HORRIBLE idea. I wish I hadn't thought of it. I think refinishing it the first time would have been a lot easier. There is so much scraping and sanding (power sanders are aweful, my hands and arms are sooo sore from all the vibrations!!) Now that I'm halfway through the prep work -and I've already put 3 1/2 hours of labour into this project!!! - I kind of can't quit!! :( Oh well only 6 or 7 hours of work on the tub to go!!! Because the tubs old paint is chipping and peeling, the surface prep took alot more work. Next I have to clean up and let the tub dry for 90 minutes, it will take forever because of all the sanding dust! then you have to apply 2 coats of paint:(

is available @ home building center and Canadian tire. I bought the rustoleum kit from Canadian Tire. Home had the Klenks epoxy kits, they cost about the same. $35.00. Now the tub is finished, and I'm glad I did it. A word of caution- make sure there is NO DUST in the tub, I missed some and now the bottom of the tub feels like it has sand in it. I'm going to give it another coat, when it's convenient, and see if it helps. I guess I should have waited until the bathroom reno was finished (we were still drywalling), but we were on a short time line. Everything is great in the new house. We keep saying "wow, we own a house!" I think it will take some time before the excitement wears off, the fact that we had to work so much harder than most people to get the house (and it is a very modest dwelling) adds to our excitement.:D

I would like to refinish/resurface my bathtub. Where do you get the kit from? H E L P.

The dust alone must be a nightmare! Good for you for taking on this difficult job. I hope all your hard work pays off.

I have a terrible avocado tub that I will obviously want to replace when it is affordable. I don't have it in me to paint it!
