Hi,
I have a brick corner fireplace in my family room and would like to re-surface it with either cememt or a parging mix. I was hoping to achieve a smooth stucco or a slightly glossy cement look. Has anyone attempted this? There are a few details I am trying to work out, like, where would I find colour additives other that the few offered at home depot? What can I do to be sure that the cement mixture will adhere to the brick? How do I get that smooth, slightly glossy look?
Any information would be greatly appreciated

Thanks dustbunnydiva,
I did some searching on the internet and found a website (Buddy Rhodes Studio) with some amazing cement fireplaces. They also sell the supplies for colouring and finishing the cement. www.buddyrhodes.com
I am going to check out a local supplier today and see if these are the products I am looking for.
They resurfaced some brick on an old episode of Debbie Travis Painted House. I actually managed to find the instructions so see if these help at all www.painted-house.com/episodes/10/120/?view=01
I would assume that for colours/tints you probably need to hit a more specialized hardware or building materials supplier than a big box store. They may also be able to suggest what to use to get the look you want. I wonder if you could use something as a top coat like venetian plaster for instance. If you could, that would make getting the colour you want a lot easier.
