OK

Do you not think it is time to lock this thread it is going nowhere fast and just causing more disagreements.
I thought I was reading the same forum as you Kipper but your keen eye seems to have picked up on slander that I missed .... Some people seem to get crucified for their opinions and others don't. I don't see the fairness in that and that is what annoys me.
I think, RedWineDiva, that you have missed the point. I honesty don't see how anyone on this forum could think this ban is unjust and without cause.
What have all of you been reading for the last 10 months or so? Certainly not what's been appearing in this forum. Otherwise, you'd have noticed Redheron's constant jabs at the House & Home Forum establishment, it's administrators, their policies, other members, the magazine, the television show, and it's host. All the while, taking every opportunity to plug her tv appearances on House&Home tv, her own shows, and taking advantage of free advertisment on numerous occasions.
She participated in an embarassing. childish, public "coup" on a competitor's website because she and her disciples were plotting to get rid another member. Her business card may qualify her as a professional, but her behavior is anything but. I've never understood her motivation to effectively spit on every contact she has in her business and television circles. Perhaps that ego usurps common sense altogether.
While we mere mortals may feel that we can behave badly, because we can hide behind an assumed identity, Meridith Heron chooses to do so with her true identity. I wonder how her business partners feel, being associated with her rude, childish behaviors, that are more than unbecoming to any profession.
While you may protest that she was more than generous with free advice, which is so much more valuable than anything we amateurs could come up with, that it grants her some type of immunity to codes of conduct and common decency. I disagree. Any benefit she was to these forums was far outshone by her most unpleasant attitude that she ruled the roost.
So no, she is not likened to a rights-oppressed Death Row inmate. She may consult her lawyer all she likes. But I seriously doubt she'll see her day in court. It would truly be a sad day if something as trivial as being banned from an internet decor forum wastes the time of our justice system.
I'm sure she knows exactly why she was banned. Her collective efforts of malice have done her in. And frankly, I'm sure it was more than just the moderators that have seen all they can take.
Yes, DustBunnyDiva, the rolling eye emoticom is fitting indeed.
annoyed as usual,
kipper
You have OBVIOUSLY missed the POINT.... Put yourself in any situation in life where you have been accused/named/defamed/ticketed/notified by another person (be it someone you know or not) and I am certain YOU would respectfully and rightfuly be entitled to all or any information regarding the incident to come to some kind of resolution/restitution. No, it isn't life or death here, but my analogy to death row inmates points out the fact that even people who commit the most serious of crimes have RIGHTS...
Ok DBD...its a little early in the morning for me still and I've got a bit of a head cold...but I'm sure that you have stated that Red is consulting a lawyer about this?? Surely this can't be true!! I mean, this site is awesome and the advice is great but seriously..getting banned from it isn't the end of the world!!
That being said...lets all get back to our decorating, pets, etc. I'm sure we'll all find out soon enough whats going on with Meredith but in the mean time...lets just carry on as usual. I'm sure some of the other members can help fill the void left by the untimely departure of the Redheron.
:) Mel
Comparing death row to a decorating forum on the Internet? This is not a crime against society, it's a privately owned forum of what is, for most people, an interest or recreation of sorts called decorating. Let's keep some perspective please.
Meanwhile, one need only check the S@H forum to see why the mods may not be saying anything (not that I think they are supposed to be anyway). Apparently Ms. Heron feels compelled to speak with a lawyer.
Anyone know where I can find an icon with rolling eyes?
I have been in touch with Meredith myself, she is still waiting for an explanation from the moderators but has heard nothing yet. In fact, don't recall seeing any of the moderators on line today, I wonder if they were all "in meetings" and unaware of our "need to know" what has transpired. Even the inmates on deathrow are aware of their "wrongs" and their fate before their punishment is doled out ... Funny they still garner all laws of natural justice... They have the right of appeal, they have written repose, they get their day in court too... What did Mer get?.... NOTHING
I agree, it seems very unlikely that Lynda Reeves had anything to do with banning redheron. I just think that it could appear that way to some observers. I also agree that it seems unimaginable that Meredith was banned for that remark, but there was nothing else posted yesterday that was in the least controversial.
I don't know that I agree with you about whether or not others are entitled to know why redheron was banned. Don't you think we should be told what offense will result in a ban? In every other situation I can think of, the rules must be laid out for people before enforcing any rule would be considered fair.
At least, surely, the banned ought to be told why they were banned!

I do agree with you, however, they have shared this information in the past, so I don't see why this time it would be different.
question....does the mods have the right to tell why a member was banned and should they be expected too...i think that is confidentianl information...again just my opinion

consideration...the 3 strike rule...for example is you tell someone to --------- off, they are not going to give you 2 more chances to behave that way again...so i think if you do something that warrants a ban right away than you are gone...if its something that doesnt warrant a ban right away, then perhaps they will give you the three chances....basically what im saying is each situation has to be treated differently....that is just my opinion, not facts.
dreamer....i highly doubt that anyone would think Lynda Reeves banned Red herself and i cant imagine that she was banned for a comment about Lynda's house........

Well, the one thing that is clear is that no one really knows what offense or offenses might get them banned. I think it would be fair if the moderators were specific. I also think that people could learn from the mistakes of others, if they know what the mistake was!
In this situation, we are all left to assume that redheron was banned for saying she was disappointed in Lynda Reeve's home. I doubt that Lynda Reeves has even the slightest notion that this is going on! Unfortunately the choice of the moderators puts Lynda in a less than flattering light, as some people might guess that banning redheron was Lynda's idea!
I am very surprised no moderator has stepped in to clarify.
Yes condo girl mentioned in the STyle@ Home forum that the way to get someone off was to report bad posts and once they get about 9 or so, they will ban her! I assume she got this info from her H&H contact she MSN'd that day.
I can answer part of your question. I did not get any "strikes" under the three strike system. I received no warning at all that I would be banned. I was just banned, for the post I recited. I do not think the "strike" system lasted for very long at all after its inception.
Well Norm, I have just assumed the 3 warning thing was still in place. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, over the past several months Red herself mentioned getting repremands (I don't recall her exact phrasing but the intent seemed to be there) which I assumed to be warnings.
Again, I think speculating isn't productive as it raises issues which may not actually be there.
What might be helpful though is some clarification from the mods especially since Condogirl mentioned some 9 bad post thing in the S@H forum. That one I don't think has ever been mentioned to us here. If that and/or the 3 warnings or any other criteria is being used, it's fair game to be aware of them I think.
I don't know, there is one part of me that says the rules are posted and it's up to the mods and whatever is going on to determine when enough is enough (speaking generally here). I'm sure we've all experienced other moderated sites and have seen someone get banned/blocked after one post (generally a very sinister troll) while others give warnings or let things go. I suppose it depends on the post, the moderator, and the purpose of the forum.
That is a good point. It reminded me that we were supposed to receive 3 warnings before being banned....or was that also before the changeover? If not, then these rules have certainly changed again. I would really like to know.
I wonder if the difference in how the status shows for REd is because of the new format of the site. If memory serves, when you were banned the old format was just in the process of changing over.
What is going on?
One of the most helpful contributors on the forum - these moderators have to be out of their mind!
Read this post title last night and I thought someone was joking! Have been away for the past few days........what gives?
I thought Red was great! She was not afraid to give opinions or advice. ....straight shooter. I hope the bird flies back here soon.
WE MISS YOU RED!
 :(
Ah crap. Not again. My opinions will take too long to post, so again, I'll stay out of it. I just want peace. Why can't we have peace? Perhaps I'm in the dark about a lot. I actually prefer it that way.
I just want to say that I always appreciate EVERYONE's suggestions on here (professional or not). That's why I'm here.
They've always explain WHY in the past. Both on and off the forum, in great detail and not always truthful, however they have explained to anyone who asked.
I'm shocked that RedHeron doesn't even know why she's banned.
It's ridiculous. We socialize here everyday, whether we truly have the right to know or not, I think we all deserve it.
you are probably right.
JMO...and i could be wrong here...believe it or not i have been known to be wrong...but...personally i think the more we push for an answer the longer they are gonna take to answer...provide they answer at all....
and for the pain we should all be taking aspirin and scotch!
Come on PhilB. some explanation is in order.....jmho
I'm irritated by the lack of response as well. It has been almost 24 hrs. since this happened, surely it is reasonable to think that we could have heard something in that time?
I was also surprised to be able to search her posts this morning. I thought I had missed something. I was hoping for an explanation regarding such drastic action by now.
The speculation can only end with an answer.
In the mean time, I have noticed that redheron has a unique designation as a "Banned User". When I and others were banned, we became "Guests" and our old posts could not be searched by searching our alias.
I am still able to search Meredith's posts by searching "redheron" and I can't help but speculate further that this is so that the Forums retain the benefit of her past advice while rejecting her! I find this very distasteful.
Why? We're still waiting for answer to why Red was banned.
I am disappointed that Red is gone. I really looked forward to reading her posts and yes, everyone does have a different opinion, but that's what makes the world go around.
Hopefully, this is just an oversight or misunderstanding or something.

Well stated Suzie g! Red you should DEMAND that all your posts and pics be removed. For those members trying to contact Red perhaps instead of trying to pm her you should send her an email directly. Phil, I am anxiously awaiting a response from my pm.
