To celebrate the new gardening forum, I'll post a pic of my latest purchase!

I have carrots, strawberries, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, basil, origanum, parsley, coriander, corn and spring onions. I'll go back for peppers, peas, brinjal and maybe squash. Off planting I go... :D

Here are some pics of our veggie garden taken our first year...oh yeah..the plastic was placed over some red peppers we thought we'd try. Yeah..that didn't work so well.
We grow completely organic..so consequently have a hard time growing certain things..like cabbage and brocolli...we do really well with most salad fixins. In this pic you can also see the corn we grew...mmmmmmm...good, although we had to buy the plants from a greenhouse due to our extremely short growing season.
Also..please try to ignore the various other distractions from outside our garden...remember those neighbors i told you about?? The ones that think garbage is a form of landscaping?? Well..you can see a bit of their "landscaping".
Yeah..and also try to ignore the weeds... :o i think it was my turn to weed that week..hehehe.
:) Mel

Jenjen, if I could make a suggestion...you should plant pumpkins!!!!!!!! With that much room even two hills would be fun to grow. I managed 2 hills in my 20'x20' garden last year, and led them onto the grass. The Lumina white ones are a good variety. they're smaller and better suited for cooking. They are really fast growers, I actually enjoyed having them in my garden more than any other vegetable and I used them the least!

I like your planting beds.....just big enough.

Jenjen......you could put a couple of fruit trees in your plot. You have tons of room!!

It is pretty and smells wonderful for a couple of days, but it is SO invasive and chokes out the plants around it. I would plant it in a shady spot where you do not care if it spreads as it will in a very short period of time. Getting rid of it is a real chore once it gets hold in a spot where you do not want it. :)

I'm getting the munchies looking at all of those!

I recently bought some strawberries, tomatoes, basil, tyme, rosemary, parsley, onions, sage and garlic. Unfortunately, I don't have a suitable patch so I planted them in flower boxes all along the railing on the deck just off my kitchen. I'm curious (and a bit worried) how they'll grow in there and if the birds are going to get to the fruit first, since the feeders are close by

ah, thank goodness, otherwise you'ld need to get the harvesting machinery in! If you put the veggies at the back, you'll have further to walk to harvest, good excercise though.
