Hey ladies, I started digging my foundation bed yesterday...the one that already has a well established Bridalwreath Spirea and will have a Purple Smokebush as my "Leading Ladies". I also bought a couple of Hostas named "Patriot" a variegated chartreuse green and white. So...although both shrubs WILL get quite large and WILL be absolutely FABULOUS in the coming years..what do I plant for now..so my bed looks great till the big guys grow up and take over??? I am going with a white/purple/green..and possibly pink theme. I have some Monkshood that are thriving in another part of the garden..I was thinking about planting those in the empty areas right next to the house, and I also want to have some purple Coneflowers...I will post my rather pathetic sketch of the bed..and I 'm sure someone on here will have some wonderful suggestions for me. I want instant height and colour..do I achieve that through annuals for the next couple of summers till my shrubs and perennials start looking great?? The area gets full afternoon sun, shade in the morning.
The little circle on the right is the soon to be planted smokebush (its a 1 gallon sized shrub) and the slighly bigger circle on the left is thealready 3 feet tall Bridalwreath spirea. Where do I plant my hostas?? HELP ME PLEASE!?!
