Sewing room or other types of hobby/craft room?

I am curious if other posters to this site have either a sewing room, or a room or space devoted to some other hobby. If you do, what is your decor like?

I'm hoping to get around to setting up a sewing room, and I think I'm going to do it a bit "shabby chic" or "Paris Apartment", for fun. I really like the office makeover on the shabbychics site. I just got a vintage (o.k. used, LOL!) sewing cabinet in what I think is walnut, which I may paint white.

Does anybody know of online sites for inspiration for a craft room? I'd love to hear your ideas.

Kelley, before I took my Laundry room/craft room to the red that it is now, it was apple green! :-) I loved it then, too~!

I also have a basement room for my sewing/craft/computer room. I painted the walls in BM Wales Green (a fresh apple green) and painted out the trim and build in plain shelves in white. I also had built in storage cupboards in pine which I debated over forever as to whether to paint them out or not. I ended up white washing them so red of the pine was masked with the white while still allowing the knots th show through.

I set up shelving (mixed open and doored shelfs, actuall a small wall unit from Ikea) at one end and set up my sewing maching parallel to this. The computer is in the opposite corner and I have set up a large table along the long wall as to have a place to cut fabrics. This long table also serves as my scrapbooking station.

I absolutely love the room.

Wow-some great ideas! It's interesting how both of you have used reds. Great rooms!

What red paint colours did you choose? I've seen a room done in Raspberry Parfait, by I think Benjamin Moore, and it was beautiful.

Our laundry room is great - it has a lot of natural light - and it's on the main floor - which was one of the selling points of this house. I also have a home office that I refer to as my Zen room - the walls are Mocha, and I love it. I've added a floating tealight shelf (which I posted pics of here recently). I've been using it for homework but have also started using it for doing my crafts. Pics coming up.

I would love to see others' craft rooms. It might inspire me to be more creative with my own space!!

Your idea's for your craft room sound wonderful! I'm sure that you will love working in it even more when it is decorated.

I'm currently working on finishing off my craft and laundry room (which are two rooms but pretty open to each other). I painted the walls a creamy yellow (as it is in the basement this feels VERY sunny) and then the wall behind the washer/dryer a dark burnt red. I am planning of using a multi-color striped fabrich to cover the shelves that we installed in a nook and to cover up the furnance and hot water tank. Also planning on using an oak look laminate that is made for 'wet' area's through out and then cream trim. Red and while toile for accents etc...

As far as organizing, I went crazy at ikea with buying storage and file boxes as well as some floating shelves to install above my desk. We are also using an antique trunk (blue- that was my grandpas) as a file box and have made a cushion that fits on top for extra seating. I am currently making a table to be installed on the wall that can fold down when not in use, and at hip hight so that I can use it for cutting cloth. We are looking for 'as is' kitchen cabinets or an old vanity to put in the laundry area for a folding table and store our gift wrapping supplies in the bottom...

Hope this gave you some idea's :-) Would love to see pictures when you are done...
