Our house is a white bungalow with white front door, dark grey roof, and black shutters on two front windows, and two side windows (which you can see from the street). I would like to paint the shutters so there is less of a contrast beteween the white house and black shutters. I'm thinking of grey, and wonder if anyone has any suggestions as to a particular shade. Any ideas other than grey? Thanks for all your suggestions!

I like the idea of softening the look and going with gray. Black is the most popular choice and will always look good. However I see a great opportunity to introduce a dark and light gray colour scheme on your front door. Darkest on the door - even black with the gray trim would look awesome. And then paint the shutters in the same gray that you used on the trim.
If you can post a picture, it would be more helpful and might get more replies. That being said and without seeing your house, white siding and black shutters is a very popular style and is timeless. You talked about having a white front door and this is where I think you can make a change which would become a focal point instead of the shutters. Can you paint the front door a fantastic colour? Red? Royal Blue? Yellow? I think if you do this, your eye will be drawn to it and then you might like the siding and shutter colours. Something to think about anyway.
