Would You Remarry?
A husband and wife are sitting quietly in bed reading when the wife looks over at him and asks the question....
WIFE: "What would you do if I died? Would you get married again?"
HUSBAND: "Definitely not!"
WIFE: "Why not? Don't you like being married?"
HUSBAND: "Of course I do."
WIFE: "Then why wouldn't you remarry?"
HUSBAND: "Okay, okay, I'd get married again."
WIFE: "You would?" (with a hurt look)
HUSBAND: (makes audible groan)
WIFE: "Would you live in our house?"
HUSBAND: "Sure, it's a great house."
WIFE: "Would you sleep with her in our bed?"
HUSBAND: "Where else would we sleep?"
WIFE: "Would you let her drive my car?"
HUSBAND: "Probably, it is almost new."
WIFE: "Would you replace my pictures with hers?"
HUSBAND: "That would seem like the proper thing to do."
WIFE: "Would you give her my jewelry?"
HUSBAND: "No, I'm sure she'd want her own."
WIFE: "Would she use my golf clubs?"
HUSBAND: "No, she's left-handed."
WIFE: -- silence --
HUSBAND: "sh*t."

after reading this post at least three times today, I finally got it.... ok, maybe I'm a little slow today..
Years ago a friend of mine said that the best compliment her husband could make about their marriage would be if she died he would remarry in less than a year. I was shocked when she said this but her reasoning was that people who have been happily married think marriage is wonderful and can't wait to do it again. Since then I have seen widowed people, who had very happy marriages, remarry in a short period of time. It isn't always as happy as the first time but I think her logic is right. If you were happy in your marriage, you will be anxious to do it again. Quite often those who have been stung in a relationship aren't too anxious to jump back into another frying pan.
that would have been the safest thing for him wouldn't it...lol
MikeD...PaulD...your perspective on this one?...LOL... ;)
I think that husband should have taken his pillow and gone to sleep another room the minute she started asking the questions! ;)
