Ok.. here's the prob.. this is what I started with on May 21...

A bunch of plants.. everything I read said to make it full, so I did, the planter is huge, it's close to 2' tall, wide and deep.
This is what I have as of June 30, and right now, a week later, the petunias are touching the ground!

It's too big to move far, I want it at the front of the house.. any ideas as to how to elevate this? By the end of the summer I'm sure it'll grow another 2 feet! Never thought I"d have this kind of a problem!

Where did you let the planter? It's lovely....
i would love to have my plants that healthy! Everything of mine looks so sad with this drought that we are having!
I love that your petunias are that long - you could definitely cut them back for aesthetics if you like, and it would probably be really healthy for them too!
into my head was a stool - we must be on the same wavelength foxxy :D
We bought several of these from Ikea a few years ago, they make good end tables outside (and inside when entertaining), too, and come in various colours, ours are white - and they are only $4.99 !!!!
Can't seem to get picture, but here is a link - formby is its name

would work as it is fairly tall. Canadian Tire @ $10.00 in black metal with PVC plastic seat.
Its gorgeous, I'd love to have a problem like that! ;)
Other than clipping them down regularly for various little vauses around the house, you might want to try layering a base made of brick like the colour of you house, or layer a natural grey stone around the perimeter in the same size. If your area is still new, you may luck out with spare peices that contractors leave behind. All you need is the right size...or you could have them a little wider at the base too. No assembly required, just position them so they look nice.
ACTUALLY, now that I think about it, what about a cedar base? Prop the planter up on 4 pieces of cedar. The colour will look nice and natural and you can stain it to compliment your bench on the veranda.
I have a black square tin planter between my garage and neighbours garage with a trumpet vine in it (also growing like crazy but hasn't flowered yet) but mine is sitting on the driveway pavement, and from the heat, the legs just sunk right through the driveway about an inch!!
Nice potato vines by the way-I love the chartreuse colour, they're my absolute favourite accent!
what about using the 18" tall or so cylinder tiles as legs. You can always spray the tile black. :p
I'd probably take a look around a thrift shop to search for something inexpensive that could be painted and used as a stand.
1. A small wooden chair, perhaps even a child-sized one, could be painted in a bright colour and placed right there in the garden on an angle. If space is tight, you could place the 2 back legs of it in the garden with bricks embedded like furniture coasters in the dirt.
2. I've seen metal bases for fishtanks in about the right size. Although I'm sure you don't have one on hand, you might luck out in a thrift shop.
3. If you or someone you know could make a simple child's bench from wood, you could paint it and use it in the garden year after year.
4. You might be able to prop it up on a taller stool or table on the landing, just behind the railing on the right, if the area gets enough sun for the plants.
5. Garden centres or even Michaels sells metal plant stands. You may find one that is just the right size.
Congratulations on a job well done. I love your planter!
The only thing I could think of is a hand cart, maybe someone near you has one you could borrow?Your container is beautiful. It should be in a location for all to see. This is what I love about container gardening,it doesn"t take long before they put on a show like yours.
