I know that salt kills slugs, but what will it do to my plants? I found some slugs on my boardwalk, and murdered them all with a salt shower, but now I want to execute their compatriots. The idea of plucking the slimy creatures off my plants does not thrill me. Can't I just give them a similar seasoning?

.....that in some parts of the world these wouldn't be a problem, because they would be appetizers!!!
This year slugs & snails made a mince meat of my garden. I finally gave in an put in Safeway slug baits. That seems to work quite well. I don't see any dead body, but new plant leaves are not full of spots and hole anymore.
I read an article today that suggested using human hair as a deterrent for slugs. Apparently it works. so a trip to the hair salon may be an idea.
their lil spider friends with them no doubt :D
Just throw a little pepper on them too and deep fry them in batter. Hmmmm good!! The word will get around in the slug community, and they'll be packing their slimy little bags in no time!!!:D
slug pellets sold at Home Depot work great. Toxic to pets though and kids.
yes, you could, but frankly, who has the time to sit around waiting for them to come along!? and you have to put it directly on their little fat bodies for it to have any effect. I would be careful of applying a lot of salt around your garden, as someone pointed out, it will not do the plants a lot of good. there are lots of slug killers on the market.
Try a spray bottle with 1 part household ammonia and 10 parts water. I have heard that others use 1 part ammonia and 5 parts water. Spritz the slugs with this and they go to instant slim and won't hurt the plant or soil surrounging it. Just don't soak the area with the solution. One spritz on the slugs works like a charm.
take the time to do a search here as there is all kinds of info re: slugs and grubs. Salt kills the plants.
