Smashing pumpkins

My rant...

Yesterday morning between 9-10am, somebody smashed two of our pumpkins.

If I had seen who did this, I would have rung their little necks!

They do not know that we made it a family outing to drive out to a farm and the children chose their own pumpkins, selected by shape and that they had been discussing what face they were going to carve out for weeks before?!

They did not see the look on my boys faces when they saw their pumpkins smashed in the road, seeds everywhere. They did not see the tears on my youngest son's face when he saw it was his pumpkin the car drove over.

It makes me so mad

The fact that these vagrants came right up to our front door. I can picture them daring each other, to walk up our driveway, past our cars, along the porch and go right to our front door and take the two pumpkins, and scurry away like rats to smash them. What elation they must have felt. Yeah, we did it! Thanks for making a sad memeory for my boys who are only 4 and 5 yrs old.

So I am going to the store today to get two more pumpkins. But it won't be the same as the ones we chose together as a family. I am putting the pumpkins either inside the house or in our back garden. Away from bored individuals.

Come spring next year I would like to put up a high fence in the front, with a bull terrier to go! South African style! Stay off my property, and that goes for the dog-poopers too.

Rant over...well not yet, I am still mad.

How disappointing for your little boys! That happened to us also, years ago with DD, but at least it was after we were done with our pumpkin. On 2 or 3 Halloweens we found our carved pumpkin in the road, after being moved some time in the night. Even though we didn't need our pumpkin anymore, she was still upset someone would do that.

I am so sorry that happened to your family. Really that is horrible, to think someone would come on your property and steal from you, then smash them. I have a 6 year old DD and I know she would be so sad if someone stole her pumpkin.

I would have never thought to do something like that when I was a teenager, my parents would have grounded me for a month if I did. Where are these kids parents, why do they not know what their children are doing on Sunday morning. Did no one see this happen? Where I grew up all the parents knew all the kids, and it was just as bad to have someone else parents see you do something as your own, because first they would yell at you, then they would call your parents to tell them what you had done, or better yet they would walk you home to tell your parents what you had done in person.
