The irises look even better today!! I can't believe how many blooms there are and how long they're lasting.... I'm sure the plant has been blooming for at least a couple of weeks so far....
Honest, those irises are 100% real!! No Pamela Anderson complex here ;)
I'm going to go out and check the garden in a minute -- I planted some new perennials and a bunch of annuals yesterday, and I want to see how they look after the rain we had last night.
And Lisi, you're welcome for the info :) I love all the same colours as you -- I've got all blue, purple, white, orange, (and pink) flowers in the garden :)
They're so beautiful!!! thanks for the treat. They're not really fake are they? You didn't buy them at the dollar store did you?
Your Cala Lilies would look beautiful carried on the arm of any bride!!!
Smoodgie. I wrote it in my garden book, I'm always looking for blue flowers. DH likes the pink, I like blue white, orange, purble and different green tones.Yes, the calla lilies take my breath away too, I have never had them, nor have I seen such an elegant flower. It would look unbelieveable in a nice glass vase but honestly I don't have the heart to cut even one! I'm eager to learn more about this plant and hope, I'll get lucky again next year.
... that I have the tag from that iris right here in my desk!! I don't normally keep the tags, but for some reason, I kept his one.
It's called Iris pumila (blue)/Dwarf Bearded Iris. The flowers in the picture on the tag are actually a light blue, which makes me wonder if the tag got moved from another pot of irises to the pot that I bought, or if the colour in the picture is just misleading. It likes sun, blooms in May, and grows 10" high -- but I think my plant is taller than that.
Your garden is amazing, by the way -- and I'm so envious of your calla lilies!!
get enough of those beauties!!! They are wonderful...can't wait until you have to thin them out, I've got a place in my garden just waiting for them. :)
Thanks for sharing the pics.
