Do you know the name of the orange flower you have that you think is an annual? You mentioned it under the :Molly post. Thanks.

Yes, the leaves are from the calla lilies. I like to add them, they look interesting and have nice foilage, also they last long.

That's good to know, thanks :) I'd really like to keep these flowers inside over the winter so I can not only plant them in the garden again next year, but enjoy their bright sunny colour over the gloomy winter months.

Wow!! That's just gorgeous!! I just love your garden and all your flowers :) Are those some calla lily leaves in the bouquet??

I was looking up african daisies on the Net last night, and came across some other beautiful colours -- there's a gorgeous fuschia pink one that I'm going to try to find next year. I'll see if I can find the web site again and I'll post the URL.

Love, love, love your daisies. They are awesome and hopefully I'll have some next year. I have a few orange zinnias right now, cut one for my bouquet. Here is a pic :

I read on the Net that if you cut them back, meaning all flowers and seed heads they will bloom again inside in a sunny window. Each branch can be cut backabout 6-8". If you dead head seed pods and wilted blooms they bloom more also.

I know I cut back the wave petunias 2 weeks ago about 6-8" per branch and they are bloomimg like crazy again.

My ISP died on me before I could post my last pic. But at least I had time to go and find the tag -- the official name for this flower is Dimorphotheca

Here's a pic of the clump of daisies (they started as just one small potted plant):

I found my african daisies at Rona. I bought only one small pot of them, and they're spreading themselves out in the flower bed quite nicely. Guess they're happy where I put them :)

As far as I know, they're an annual, so I'll probably dig up a few before the frost hits and see if I can keep them growing inside till next spring.

I'll take some pics when I get home from work....

Thanks, mine are gerber and they have done better since I put them in the garden from the pots too.

I will look for orange african next year. The monkey flower is sold here but as an annual........

I have some African daisies too but unfortunately no orange (lillac and yellow). They are not doing so well, I moved them from pots in the flower bed where they seem to be happier! Hope you post a pic. I need to find more orange, the mimulus is doing great, next year I'll try a hanging basket with mimulus only, the violas are still looking o.k but I figure their time is counted, maybe I'll take some pics today. It's overcast and on the rainy side - what a surprise - ! I find, the pics turn out nicer when it is not so sunny.

We were away all weekend and then it was raining (and dark!) when we got home last night, so I haven't had a chance to take a picture yet. I think I know where my flower tags are, so I'll take a look through them tonight and see if I can find the one for these orange flowers. Check back later tonight, and I'll hopefully have some info for you and Lisi and anyone else looking for orange flowers :)
