So it's closing on Christmas, Arctic front firmly in place and temps dropping again so I decided to pull my car out tonight and get some dog bones for one bored dog who is going crazy being in the house. No biggie, shovel my way to the garage, the car starts, the garage door opens and whap I'm in a snow drift that had collected by the door. I never had to shovel back there ever...until now I guess. Nice part is a neighbour surfaced and we got the car going with the help of some blankets and stubbornness without slamming it into my garage which was inches away from it's spinning wheels. I got the bones and some comfort food for me and figured we'd be good for the week. Eb was in the car the whole time and I discovered she hadn't been barking because she was excited at all. It took me noticing the wet spot in the back of the car....:hairpull: the carpet is yanked to wash it and I figured I'll shovel the back out tomorrow when it's light out. I just wanted to get in and get warm again.
So, putting away groceries I notice under my sink is wet.:hairpull: Pull out all the stuff, tighten some things but can't figure where the water is coming from. I'm so tired I don't care anymore so literally throw in a towel and walk away.
Anyway, about an hour ago I decided to do my laundry and wash that car mat since it's late enough to miss the peak power hours. It's all been sorted on the basement floor and I go down and it's all soaking wet. The sewer backed up.:hairpull: :hurl:This happened once before from tree roots so I did the toilet flush test but this time it didn't back up so I called the city. They have a 24 hr line and could come at 3 am but I figure as long as it isn't backing up every time I flush I can wait till morning. I can't imagine it's tree roots suddenly being a bother this time of year but I sure hope it isn't a pipe break or that could cost me some very real money. I guess I'll see tomorrow. GAds do I ever need this to be a city problem so they cover the costs. They did last time this happened but it was the tree roots.
If my house was clean and the ground wasn't frozen solid I think I'd just go slam a 'for sale' sign up right now. Stupid frigid weather. -28 and dropping still... stupid freezing weather.
