Mel, I checked the Vessey's web site -- my purple & white tulips aren't Blueberry Ripple, but OMG, those ones are GORGEOUS!!!!! I think I need to find a spot to plant some of those for next spring!!! And I'll set up some booby traps so the squirrels leave them alone!! Grrrr!!!!

Maybe that hunky guy working on your yard can come and do some squirrel patrolling for me?? ;)

Just work on one section at a time -- you'll go crazy, not to mention broke, if you try to do it all at once.

This is our 5th summer working on our backyard. Once we get the 5 or 6 trees we just bought planted, we'll be done!! Well, almost -- the deck still needs a railing.

I highly recommend getting a landscaper to draw up a plan for you. It makes the plant selection and layout process SO much easier.

As you can tell, my favourite flowers are blue and purple and pink :)

jenjen, those pink flowers in pic #5 are the blooms on a purple sandcherry.

Indigo & jenjen, I have a huge batch of black irises that are on the brink of blooming. I'll post some pictures soon :)

Dawn & luvto, I love that light blue iris too :) I don't know what it's called, though -- I got a bunch of bulbs a couple of years ago from a lady who was thinning out her bulbs, and that blue one was one of them.

Mel, I don't know the name of the tulip, sorry :( I bought 6 new bulbs last fall -- the damn squirrels either ate 4 of them or made off with them :hairpull: , because those two tulips are the only ones that bloomed :( I think the others were blue parrot tulips.

I'd love to see pics of everyone's flowers -- come on, don't be shy!!!!

smoo...those are beautiful flowers...so cheerful...put a smile on my face just looking at them...and you know how hard that is to do... :D ...i was wondering what one of them is ...in the first bunch picture #5...that's so pretty...can i ask what that is?...thanks

i prefer black tulips...queen of the night i believe they're called...at my last house i had a ''black'' garden...the blacker the better...everyone thought i was insane...can you imagine.... :D ...i'm hoping i can do something like that here...there is so much landscaping to do here and cuz it's such a big area...it's gonna take ALOT of work and time...

Nice nice Smoodgie...wow..tit must be amazing to live in a part of Canada where things actually bloom BEFORE July!!

Is that a Blueberry Ripple Tulip?? I think I've seen them in the Vessey's catalogue..was thinking of trying them..although for some reason..I am constantly drawn to the Juice 'n Honey Mix (all yellow and orange ones) guess we'll see when the time comes to order which colour combination wins..LOL

:) Mel

Beautiful. I especially love the blues of your irises. The tulips are very striking also!

beautiful start in a spring garden Smoodgie:) that tulip is incredible! I have a thing for dark flowers and foliage. I planted 50 black tulips in my garden last fall and I'm thinking that the tulips you have might find a place in my garden this fall:)
