I'm a totally new gardener, just trying out stuff. Try to buy my plants on sale and see what grows. I don't have a plan yet, no fence, etc so I'm just playing for now. Here are a few pics to share...
A clematis I bought last October for about $5 because it was pretty much dead. I planted it and it grew! DH made me a trellis out of some mesh stuff, he actually extended it today because the plant out grew the original trellis! It is covered with tiny buds, I can't wait to see what the actual flowers look like!
Hanging basket from Costco. Bought it about a month ago, didn't know what colours they were because there were no blooms. Look at it now!
close up on the flowers in the basket, do you know the name of these?

The purple-pink flowers with white centres looks like verbena, The basket is beautiful.
How did you get all those pics one after another and so large ??? Thanks
well in the garden! Everything looks wonderful.
Here's wishing you the best of luck with the clematis and the morning glory, too. I hope you will have some glorious pictures of those to share with us later in the season.
everything looks great! And your pictures are fantastic...some of your closeups could be used as art.
I made this planter up, lots and lots of plants, it's doing really well. Also put this together a month ago, it only had 4 or 5 blooms total. Ohh.. don't you love my blue hose, I got it at loblaws a few years ago, the only blue hose on the street!

Close up of my favourite in the planter, lobelia

Some morning glory plants I grew from seed a month ago. I'm hoping to use it as a screen from my neighbour on my porch. I have to hang it on the railing and rig up a fishing line trellis this weekend.

Some late blooming tulip like bulbs. I got these from costco last year, the big tulips came up almost a month ago, these are just poking their heads out now.

So... there you go. I always amend the clay soil with triple mix, compost and bone meal. For the planters, I add soil sponge, pine bark chunks and pearlite for drainage and moisture retention, plus bone meal and slow release fertilizer. I research on gardenweb and learn from the experts. Hope you enjoyed it. I'll post some stuff later on in the summer once more come up.
