son's thrift shop find: books

Jack is 8 and he is an excellent shopper. We were in one of the 'tattier' thrift shops I drag him through, and he asked me if I'd buy him some books he found on the floor in a box. Aren't they great-looking? It's a series of books called The Seafarers by Time Life Books. I think they have a great look to them, and he just loves them! There's about 20 of them and the set cost me $20. It's a fair price, as they are like new. Besides, the proceeds go to a worthy charity (S.P.C.A.) and that pleases me also. I checked eBay and full sets seem to have an asking price of $50-75, but the shipping would be quite something for the weight, I'm sure.

Doesn't Jack have a great eye? :)

Yes, it is actually very exciting to be asked if I'll buy one of them a book. DD is more into novels and the Chicken Soup series of books. It's looking like my son is more into non-fiction so far. He's covering Jacques Cartier at school right now, so tonight we have to find whch book covers him.

Dawn; those are beautiful books, your little guy sounds very mature & intellectual. It is nice to see young ones still interested in other forms of info besides electronics. You must be so proud of him. :)
