Squirrels digging in my urns

Someone in my neighbourhood is feeding squirrels peanuts. As a result, they are trying to bury their little "treasures" in my garden urns!

Argghhh. So far, fortunately, I haven't lost any plants just alot of container soil. What a mess.

Is there anything I can do? Is there something I can put in the containers themselves that will deter them and not harm either plant or beast?

Diva - thanks, found it at Canadian Tire this past weekend. I am sorry to hear that your cat is using your garden as a litter box! That can't be good for the plants/soil. I agree, maybe you should try to use more for your next application.

Good luck!

Home Depot, etc. about $10. It seems to be a pepper mixture. I don't think I used enough because my cat still thinks the flower bed is a great litter box!!!!

Unfortunately, a source for Critter Ridder was not given on the show, so I would call around to the places you mentioned, ie. Home Depot and Cdn. Tire. If they don't have it, give Sheridan Nurseries (in Toronto) a call.

I found this on the web: _
100% Natural Critter Conditioner. Made from a unique formula containing natural organic mineral and vegetable ingredients. Repels dogs, cats, raccoons, skunks, squirrels, mice, rats, deer, gophers, moles and other animals. For outdoor use only.

Good luck.

I've never heard of this product. Is it sold at Canadian Tire, Home Depot, garden centres or someplace else altogether?

On one of our shows, Jen Reynolds recommended a product called "Critter Ridder". It is a Chemfree product that deters squirrels, dogs, etc. from digging in the garden.
