Has anyone ever tried this with success? My cuz was telling me about a friend of hers who tried using a wood stain on her brick fireplace and it turned out amazing. I have a fireplace that divides btwn my living room and kitchen. The colour of the brick is terrible and I would love to do something with it, other than paint it or redo it in a different stone.
If anyone can find before and after pics of redone fireplaces I would love to see them. I need some inspiration for mine as it's driving me nuts!

Mrs. P - thanks for asking DH about the stain. Now I have to pick which colour to go with....
JennN: Talked with DH and he said that any exterior stain will work on your brick fireplace. He has not used wood stain on brick but said it should work as long as you use a water based stain/paint, etc. because brick and cement is made with water and thus, is compatible.
Mare: that link to this young house is great. That lady has talent.
You were not kidding - that website is sooooooo addictive, my lap top has made "scorch" marks on my legs. Time to quit. LOL
I love what you're doing with your home. It's gorgeous!
Here's a link to a bog I visit every single day. The how to is about painting a fireplace (not staining) but you may find it helpful.
P.S. Warning: This blog is addictive! :) Enjoy!

JennN: I know they make a concrete stain and we have used it for the concrete on the bottom part of our barn. It is a solid colour but does penetrate into the concrete instead of sitting on the surface like paint would. I am sure you could use this same product on brick, patio stones, etc. I am not sure about wood stain on brick though and DH, the Wood Care Expert is away for work purposes right now. I can ask him tonight when he calls (if I remember) for you.
I don't have pictures or experience but I know Cloverdale paints here had a brick stain in their stores a year or so ago. It was intended for exterior work but I bet it will work interior too. If memory serves it came in a few colours.
