staircase decoration ideas

Cris's picture

The round stairway leading to the bedrooms in my house has been completely empty and really bothering me. I need to fill it and give it some personality. Other than a stairway photo gallery, what else can I do with it! Thank you for your help!Staircase decoration ideasStaircase decoration ideas

Hi Cris,
My staircase is exactly like yours.  I saw an episode of Cityline where Brian Gluckstein suggested a round table at the bottom in the curve (someone posted a picture of this) with a large vase/flower arrangement on it.
The wall leading up the stairs does not seem large enough for a photo gallery.  If you think it needs interest, I like the suggestions of the wall panel moulding or wallpaper.  I have a large canvas painting on the wall upstairs (when you are standing on the stairs to go down, the wall straight ahead (the most difficult wall to lean a ladder against).  Perhaps that would solve the issue of you feeling like it is missing something???
Please post pictures of your end result, I'd love to see them!

A little sitting area at the bottom like on that first photo would be amazing...then like you mentioned, photo gallery of your family or art works ( would be grand...wallpaper could also add a nice touch!

Hello Cris,Your staircase is a great place to put wallpaper. It's a great way to add some colour and pattern without relying on an art wall (plus you never have to worry about knocking anything down). Here are two very good examples of how dramatic or subtle the look can be:Karen von Hahn's home: Erin Feasby's home: this helps!Jennifer
