:hairpull:
I can't believe it.... The October issue of H&H has been on stands for at least two weeks, and I haven't recieved my copy in the mail yet!
Any one else experience this? What about others in Nova Scotia - same problem?!
Nu House, what about you?
**((( Trying to be patient... )))** :o

... did anyone else look at the Gretzky house and think, whoa, how did this article from Architectural Digest end up in H&H???
I live in central Nova Scotia and got my issue last week sometime.
The Gretsky home is not my taste - way to formal. The view is really great!
geeee...now we can all know his address...lol....conviently same pics that were in H&H...begs the question...wonder what the rest of the house looks like...beautiful but a lil over done...but i'll still take that ensuite....and i love the pillars in the fron of the house
So I'm a bit real estate obessed and just happended to be browsing the market as I generally do, and came across the listing for their house $25 Mil. (Then I saw the last thread) So if they're so thrilled with their "home" why sell it? Would never know it was theirs until I realized I'd seen the exact pictures before...they're the same ones from the magazine article. Not sure if everyone can access (you have to sign up for access to on-line news) but it's ID#103325
long thread:

i read in the sports section the other day that their house has been on the real estate market since March for ....are ya sitting ...$24mill. that's alot of bullion fringe!!
just to show more bad planning with this house is that it is in a neighbourhood where the most houses are selling for are $700K...so go figure.
I never received the February issue - oddly enough I was IN it! When I called they agreed it should have arrived and kindly sent it out to me right away.
Perhaps one of the many hands that touch it along the way actually liked Wayne Gretzky's home and kept it for his/her own personal enjoyment. It's not like you were missing much - unless you are a big fan of Bullion Fringe Sofas and the like....
The September issue was the 1st in my subscription.
Payment on my subscription isn't due until October 9th.
you sure you maybe don't have to renew your subscription?...just a thought
I called H&H subscription services this morning to ask when my copy of the October issue was sent out.... The lady I spoke with just said "you should've recieved it by now." Really, you think?!
Then she says, "would you like to send it out to you again? It'll take 5-10 business days to recieve it..."
At this point I don't think it was sent out in the first place.
It's been on stands for probably 4 weeks, this is ridiculous.
How do I may a formal complaint?
I got mine yesterday.
I checked my September issue and it indicated an expiry date for September 05. However I sent a check in July to renew the subscription and it was cashed so I have asked H& H to explain. Haven't heard anything yet.
i think you should give up waiting for it and just go out and buy one...you shouldn't have to tho'...but isn't Novembers issue gonna be here soon?...and i'd be putting in a BIG!!!! complaint with H&H mag
The others that hadn't gotten the issue when this post started - have you gotten it yet?
After reading the many comments regarding the subscribers amongst us on the forum and the October issue, I did some probing and after contacting our circulation department regarding the late delivery of subscribed issues of the magazine, I was informed that the distribution centre had mailed out the copies 8 days later than normal. The customer service call centre was made aware of this and your issues, if they've not already arrived, should be arriving very shortly.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
well if they ever decide to give it away...i would gladly take it off their hands... :D
we didn't see the kids' bedrooms, or their family room etc. It's no different than one of us having a formal dining room, or formal living room. This is just larger scale.
Perhaps because so many people commented on not seeing that part, maybe they will show us in another issue. I think another thing people are forgetting: this isn't their only home. If you've got more than one, why not decorate one as lavishly as you want????

hey i just realized....where was the ice rink/arena...?...i'd have one...lol...if i could skate all year round....oooohhhhhh...it would be bliss.... :D
i came to the conclusion that if i had the coin...you bet your a$$ i'd have a house like that...and the cleaning staff to along with it...lol...if i had the room...i would put one of those chairs in my ensuite...and all those pillars on the outside of the house...DH who never looks at my mags...couldn't stop looking at the place...he loves pillars...and wants a house with HUGE pillars...lol...it was a lil over the top...but heck i would probably do it too like i said if i had the coin...and then i would have to strap the kids to chairs 24 hours a day and spoon feed them so they wouldn't touch anything...but i had a thought...we didn't get to see their basement...i'm gonna guess that in their basement or even in some sort of gigantic room elsewhere in the house isn't as done up...i'm sure they like to kick back and relax everyonce in a while too...
it was beautiful (though ostentatious). I can see the appeal of living like that. Who wouldn't feel like a princess in a bathroom like that? They certainly have the means to live that lifestyle, why not indulge themselves through decorating?
We more humble folk can still take inspiration from it and adapt it to our own home, A damask chair beside your more modest, but no less luxurious ,corner tub wouldn't be out of place.
The lesson is to find beauty in everything you see. Whether you take it with you to encorporate into your own life is up to you. I just don't see why one should vehemently oppose it though.

kipper...i want her ensuite bathroom...i LOVED it...it's gorgeous...
Quite a thick issue too. I agree, it was probably the zillion inserts that caused printing/distribution problems. All my other issues have arrived on time.
What's all the todo about Wayne and Janet Gretzky's house? So it's ultra formal, and looks like the inside of a castle. So what???? It's another decor style, why not show it to us? At least every home featured this issue wasn't a boxy, empty, modern masterpiece. The last few issues have shown some diversely different homes.
I'm glad they're showing a little of everything to us, even if it's not attainable. Even some of the more modest homes are unattainable for some us. That doesn't mean we wouldn't appreciate taking a peek.
Perhaps there's no way you'd decorate your home like Janet and Wayne's, but maybe you loved one of their coffee tables, or were inspired by some of their upholstery. If there was nothing there you admired, move on to the next page. If an 8 page feature in a 320 page magazine insults your design sense so much you want to cancel the subscription, oh well. I'm pretty sure they'll get over it. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

I would love to comment on Wayne and Janet's house, however, I still have not received my copy. Perhaps the Oct and Nov issue will come together.
Probably took so long from all the inserts they put in it. The very first thing I do with magazines is remove every single insert and put them in the recycling, unread.
Don't fret... you REALLY aren't missing much.
The Gretzy home... suitable for lining your gerbal and hamster cages!!!
Worst issue in years.
We should post a poll!
.... one reason I did not renew my subsciption...always very late. That and the fact the homes they featured are too over the top for me. I want to see average everyday homes where real people live and how they decorate and solve decor problems. I prefer Style at Home and it is always here on time. Sorry H&H i gave you a try for many years..........
I haven't got my issue yet either so I called. They said they have had a problem with this issue and will be mailing them around the 23 - 27th of Sept. So, this month some of us are getting them later than usual, but it shouldn't happen again. Hope that helps.
and had in the back seat of the car...was at the cottage over the weekend with my girlfriends and we 'tee heed' over the ridiculous home Janet and Wayne live in! to each HER own i guess.:D
but ya what is with the late delivery?! not impressed...
much later than everyone else.
Frustrating!!

Mine came last night; alwaysa bit of a 'lunchbag let down' since it's been discussed and hashed over for almost a week. Happens every month.
sweetie
Should recieve it same weeks as it goes on sale on stands... This is ridiculous! Shame on H&H!
