This is related to the Pottery barn thread in decorating and design....it's more of a rant than anything else.
i was on urban outfitters website and they have some of the most beautiful accessories for decorating. they had a little sign in the corner that said "WE NOW SHIP TO CANADA!" and of course I was thrilled....
until i went to order something and it said sorry we don't ship that....or most of the other home decor...just clothes.
argh!!!!!!!
why does that happen! if they can ship it in the US why can't we get it here?
i would be even willing to pay duty and all that nonsense. there should be a generic company who picks up your product in store and ships it to you.....
is there a company like that?

Oh my holy gawd arizona! i love you!!!!!
I posted this just before Christmas. It's a service that ships anything from a U.S. website to Canada.

Do you know anyone who lives in Toronto that could check that store for you? I do recall there being one in montreal as well (there was the last time I was in the city at least....)
i think the nearest one is toronto?? am i right?
that might be a good idea though....

do you have an urban outfitters store anywhere near you? Alternatively, you could see if they'd ship to a canadian store and then have that store ship to you. Might be a long shot, but worth a try?
I know, TOTALLY frustrating :hairpull: You need to get creative and figure out a way to make it work!!
Do you have any friends or relatives in the US you could have packages shipped to?? If yes, have orders shipped to them and then have them forward the packages to you. It's more time consuming and will cost you more in shipping charges, but if it's something you really want and can't get here, it might be worth it.
If you're planning a trip to the US, place your order just before you go and have it shipped to a UPS Store that's located in or close to the area where you're going. Pick up the package while you're on your trip and bring it back with you.
There may be forwarding companies in the US states closest to you that would be willing to receive packages for you and then forward them to you. Of course, they would charge for the service, but again, might be worth it.
If you go to the borderfree.ca web site, they list US stores that ship to Canada:

Also, why not write to the Urban Outfitters head office and ask them why they don't ship all items to Canada and tell them that they SHOULD ship all items here. Point out that they're missing out on a huge market by not shipping to Canada!!!
