Stupid question but...

This may be a stupid question but...How do you tell if your perennials are still alive after the winter. I have several Shasta Daisies that I planted last year and they don't seem to be sprouting yet. Is it just that they start growing later than other perennials?

2 of mine from last year have leaves, the new ones I planted 2 week ago have buds. Sone tulips not open so I can see roses may be later.

and what the exposure is that they get. My explorer is only just showing leaf tips, but in the last day or so (some hot weather), they have grown quite fast. On the other hand, some of my perennials are nowhere to be seen - yet - or maybe I am being too optimistic ;-))

rose bushes. I have 4 different ones and only one so far is sprouting leaves. Should I wait longer for the other ones?

Thanks,
K

Some things are slower than others to show up. Depends so much on what exposure you have. The Spring here is late this year -- just look at all those tulips, barely up for the tulip festival!
