Looks like Suzanne is the new editor for House and Home magazine, I wonder if she'll still have her show, Style at Home. http://www.foxbusiness.com/story/markets/industries/technology/house--home-media-appoints-suanne-dimma-position-editor-canadian-house--home/

Suzanne was with Canadian House and Home for years - and years. She moved on from there to start her magazine "Wish" and then her tv show. She is, in effect, going back. They know her well, as she does them. I think she was a great fit, and look forward to her being back.

True...she was there for ages. She did the questions/answers section in the back of the mag that Cameron MacNeil is currently doing.

It'll be interesting to see how the other senior people at H&H react to that that have also been there for years...hilary, kate, meg, sally, etc.

I never really liked suzanne's designs to be honest. Erin Feasby is actually my fav designer out of the lot of them.

I laughed when I read the 'that's stunning' post re Style Dept. although I must say I have only watched a few of Suzanne's shows.
I enjoy the H&H magazine but find it difficult to watch the tv show. I have always felt there was friction or something going on between Cobi and Linda so perhaps Cobi leaving is a good thing. I wish Linda and Suzanne and H&H well. I really hope that Cobi will get her own show!

I really like Cobi Ladner! She is soooo talented. It is too bad she has left House and Home as she was the best thing H&H had going for it. Both Linda and Suzanne come across as being kind of snobbish and controlling...IMHO. Don't care for Suzanne's show either.. Whatever Cobi decides to do she will be a winner...I hope she gets her own show!

I had a look at H&H mag this last weekend and I found nothing in it that would make me buy it again.

if this means Suzanne will bring fresh new ideas ie. more minorities home design then I'll tune in. So far all I'm seeing are rich white homes!

I was surprised too that Suzanne is going to be the new editor. Her show The Style Department, and the home section of Wish magazine, show very eclectic designs and appear to be a mismatch of styles to me. It's like she tries to cram in too many styles in one room.

I did read an article that her and her fiance who's a big-time architect decorated their home. He's into modern, she's into classic/traditional. Perhaps she was doing the eclectic/modern thing for her show and Wish mag, but in reality she really enjoys classic design which would be a good fit for H&H. I really hope it doesn't mess up the magazine as I love it. Well, she's young and hopefully she will bring freshness to it. I really don't think Lynda Reeves would allow it to turn into another Wish magazine!!

We'll find out when the Dec. Issue shows up in the mail, let's see how she does.:)

I got tired of seeing overly large homes featured all the time. Although I don't seem to mind watching Mansions or Million Dollar Listing on HGTV. Perhaps I found the magazine focused soley on larger homes and even their small space editions were not what I would consider small by any stretch of the imagination.

I never liked Wish Magazine and was not crazy about Dimma's Style Dept, but I will keep an open mind, and am hopeful about what she will do at H&H. I, unlike Smoodgie, do like to see the grand houses (interspersed with a few not SO grand houses) in magazines, and am getting very tired of the "decorating" shows that take us into houses that need to be cleaned  I like to be inspired!! What I found so un-inspirational about H&H recently was all the beige, monochromatic, cold interiors they were featuring. Hopefully she will help produce a magazine that can inspire all of us!!;)

I'm not crazy about Style Dept. or Suzanne Dimma, but she could be good thing for H&H. It's time they shake things up a bit, and hopefully Suzanne will take the magazine in a new and fresh direction. I haven't read H&H for a couple of years -- ever since the issue with the 12,000 sq ft. "summer cottage" The issue with Wayne & Janet Gretzky's house was also a huge turn-off.

And yeah, hard to believe Suzanne is in her 40s!!

I watched the first half of Style Dept last night and I found her to be quite normal, nothing offensive about her and she never said "stunning" even once. Maybe some of you should give her another chance.
I have to admit I found the shows last season a turn off because her ideas were kind of "out there". She's very creative obviously and I have found visionary personalites don't always do things to accomodate the general public.

Oh yeah...she does look great!! In fact...she looks YEARS younger than me...and I'm only 32!

 Mel

WOW 43....thought she was in her early 30's. Looks great!

Wow! I can't believe she's 43! I agree that she acts MUCH younger...weird

I would never have guessed that in a million years! I always thought she came across as much younger, not just appearance, but her mannerisms, etc.

I first read about this back in early August in the Toronto Star. Here's a link to the article. She eludes to some of her "intentions".

I don't know. I think you have to wait and see because to me it's an entirely different skill set to be editing a magazine vs an on air personality so she may be more suited for the behind the camera work. Besides that, given the stupidity of some of the producers/writers of these HGTV Shows being more interested in annoying or causing some reaction in viewers rather than just informing, who knows what was scripted and what was being her true self.

Wolfbaby's picture

I'm looking forward to seeing what the difference is. I always felt, rightly or wrongly, that when she left the magazine went more toward the ultra high end home that it's hard for me, at least, to really relate to, and more to beige, beige, beige and beige. Safe.

I think she and Linda combine to make a more transitional, attainable although still excellent design direction. That was how it seemed before, so I hope it is again.

I hope it works out - I have my fingers crossed.

for my subscription, no way will I be subscribing to House & Home if Suzanne is the editor.....She is way tooooooooooooooooo boring for me.

What really sucks is that Suzanne quite possibly will read this thread....and altho she's not the most thrilling person on tv...and her style isn't the same as ours (most of ours anyway) I think we should give her a fair shot. I guess this is part of the deal when you're in the public eye.

And really...honestly...it doesn't matter to me who the editor of the magazine is...I gave up on it LONG ago.

Suzanne did the "Ask a Designer " column when she was with H&H before she left.

I really think you will be surprised. I liked her a lot when she was with House & Home, yet never really enjoyed her magazine or tv show. I think her style really complements the House & Home group better than it stands on its own, She seems to bring something special too - I think it's the mix that works. Remember, she isn't doing it alone, and she isn't doing the House & Home tv show.

If she says "stunning" after every sentence I'm fairly certain she'll be editted - lol.

I have tried to watch her tv show but I cant stand the opening music . It is so annoying. Who ever sings that theme song is awful.

That was my thought exactly her vocabulary is so limited how can she be the editor of anything.

As editor we will read at the end of every sentence "stunning" GAG
