I tried my Crockpot today with a frozen Roast and I can't believe it but it is working. I know you all said it would but I had to try it for myself and I am amazed. I told DH that we would either have to go out to eat or we would have a nice Moose Roast for dinner. i would nevr have though of this if it hadn't been suggested here Thanks.

I put a frozen roast in the crockpot at about 9:30 this morning. It weights a couple of pounds, and has been on Low heat the whole time. I don't want to take the cover off and check it, because then all the heat will escape. But I don't want to overcook it either!!

Any idea how long it should take for the roast to be cooked medium-rare??

Just garlic onion and salt and pepper the roast was well done but I always cook the Wild meat well done. I would have to check it after about 4 hours to see how well done it was if I wanted med or rare.

Jeep, did you rub any spices on the roast before you put it in the crockpot?? Did the meat come out rare, medium-rare, medium....??

I'm going to try this on Sunday :)

Thanks Jeep...I think because it's slow cooking, it's like being marinated as well.

It was a roast of maybe 3lbs. no bones I put it in at about 8am on high and turned it to low at noon and by 3:30 it was done I left it in until 5 pm when we ate and it was so good. This moose that DH got last year is so mild and tender we don't need to marinate it at all. I put in onion and a couple of garlic cloves and water with beef oxo cubes to cover the roast. Took out the juice and thicken for gravy and it was fabulous.. I can't believe after all these years I would never have thought of doing this if it hadn't been told to me here.

Mmmmmm good...love moose meat...so for how long did you have to cook your frozen moose?

I like to marinate moose and venison in buttermilk....it comes out so tender....but would love to try cooking it in a crock pot next time. :)
