Throat Remedies? Tea/Losages?

redheron's picture

Does anyone have a particular tea or other they can recommend that is good to take for a sore throat?

I have tried a particular Dreamy or something Tea before. I took it around 8pm or so but it knocked me flat on my.. you know what. I am hoping to at least be able to stay up and see the 24 I taped last night.. or RMO at 10pm but I just want something to soothe.. not render me unconscious..

Suggestions?

must have been my evil twin! She is the one responsible for all this rain!!

Ah, you guys wouldn't have believed it last night! I was crawling around under the house, putting the utility pump where it is needed and I crack my head on one of the floor joists! I mean CRACK!! My head started to bleed!!!

How stupid!

and a fine bottle of red last night... think DH is trying to tell me something?

Tea would have been nice but the red wine was also quite lovely!

Perhaps the your twin WAS the evil one and she has pumped something foul into your basement???

Is this a northern thing.. if so, my condolences.

:D

something stinks, but I thought it was the water I'm pumping out of my basement.

My mistake!

If you had a twin sister... SHE'D be the nice one!

I'm going to have to come up with some sort of horrific Soap Opera name to refer to you as.... hmmmmmm

I'm thinking... can you smell the wheels burning?

you know my goal in life is to tease you - come into the store, leave without saying hello, come to TO for a haircut, don't stop by . . .

It's anticipation, I figure if I do this often enough, I should make you so crazy that you travel all the way up here just to meet me, then, over wine, I'll get all your ideas for my house, FOR FREE!!!

HHHAAAAHHHHAAAHHHHAAAA (not, AAn, but close enought)

I've revealed my diabolical scheme!!

(seriously, next time, a glass of wine, I promise!!)

...a mixture of warm water and equal parts salt and baking soda. Nasty tasting mixture...don't swallow it, just gargle it.

My DH swears by this tea. :) He also thinks it really helps him sleep and clear any congestion. And yes that is the name of it and I think he got it at the grocery store.

this talk of tea, I think I need to go make some! I have some lovely mint tea that I bought in Toronto (no getting grumpy red, that was the trip down when I DID stop in the store!!)

I swear by Ricola lozenges. The cherry mint ones work very well. (This is a little late for tonight, but maybe for tomorrow, if you're not feeling better)

Have a good night sleep!

This came recommended from my massage therapist a few years ago, and I felt compelled to share it. It's wonderful and I make it often.

Magic Tea

Add to a tea-pot:
1. thin slices of a piece of peeled ginger root -- approximately the size of your thumb
2. about a tablespoon of honey
3. a pinch of lemon zest
4. a tiny tiny piece of celery leaf (you think a piece that small wouldn't make a difference, but believe me, it does)
5. pour in your boiling water and...
6. VERY IMPORTANT: mix with a wooden spoon, not a metal or stainless steel one. I don't know why, but apparently this is imperative!

Let steep for a few minutes and enjoy. The second cup is stronger and most definitely encouraged!

since I stay up late usually anyways, it wouldn't really matter nowadays!! But I'd say after 10 or so, I wouldn't drink it!

hot water, gin, fresh lemon and sugar....sip it and you will be gone by bedtime. or white rhum if no gin.

I had a chai once from Starbucks, at around 9, and didn't sleep all night :( usually caffeine doesnt have any effect on me, but that time it did! My aunt drank one with me too, and she had the same effect.

Will Chai keep me up extremely late if I take it at nine? I don't want to have the opposite effect.

What is the caffeine content of chai?

it won't conk you out, but make your throat feel much better - hot water with honey and fresh lemon juice. must be fresh lemon, not the bottled kind!
