Trim and Moulding

Does anyone know a website that clearly explains the steps to follow when installing trim, moulding and baseboards? I'm new to this and want to make sure I do it right.

Thanks

Lore

think how lovely my house would be if I had a home depot with a 3 hour drive . . . .

Home Depot has free seminars each month for 'Do it Herself' on different topics. In Feb. they had one for installing moulding. Unfortunately, I missed it but it is offered tomorrow (Sun.) for everyone at 12:00 to 1:00 pm. I'm going to the one for making headboards which is Mar. 14 at 7:00 to 9:00 I believe. This is at the Home Depot on Curity Ave. in Toronto. I've just checked their website but it isn't updated yet for Mar. except for the kid's seminar.

DBD, those sites will be a big help! I tried to do a search myself, but came up with a lot of sites that required a dictionary (I know nothing!!).

I don't know why I didn't think of Jon Eakes!!

I found a couple that might help you. If you do a search by 'do it yourself' or 'how to install baseboards' you can come up with some great sites.

I find the Reader's Digest home improvement books really helpful and use mine all the time (they have good clear illustrations). You might want to head to your local library and check out their books on woodworking or home repair and see if you can't get some good ideas there.

Have fun with your miter saw. I love mine.

We put new base boards in our living room this summer. We didn't have a power mitre saw, just a miter box and a hand saw, and it came out fine. I hear ya with the words and pictures though, I'm very much a visual learner. Good luck to you, and enjoy the improvement. I was amazed at how good new trim made the whole room look. So if you do have difficulties- don't fret- it will be well worth it!

Norm!!

Yup, I've got a brand new mitre saw, still in the box, sitting in the middle of the entrance way. My dh has made me promise to read and follow instructions if I'm going to be playing with power tools.

My FIL has tried to explain how to 'cope', but I'm not getting it. I think that words and pictures together just might do the trick!!

I love your ambition! I have been pretty impressed with Rona's website...www.rona.ca I think you will find everything you need there from planning to installing. Good Luck! :)
