I finally watched the H&H episode on converting a garage to livable space. Honestly, it was a waste of time - if I had a garage, I'd have to park my car in it. Given that my house is on a lot that's only 19 feet wide, there's no driveway. The show was just totally over the top. I still don't find Lynda a very compelling host - she's very stiff on the air. But in general, I do like the new format better than the old one.
One show I do like is Home to Stay with Peter Fallico. Not always my style, but the results are usually pretty good. I loved seeing his home. It was also featured in Style at Home last month. Out of the new shows, I have to say this is one of my favourites.

I have to say that I am just not impressed with HGTV at all these days. Besides a handful of decent shows to watch, there is practically nothing worth my time to watch. You know how they say that watching tv is a waste of time, well you know the shows are pretty bad when you don't even want to use time that you were planning to waste on them. Does that make sense?
still have not had the chance to see the new show....however "Home to Stay" is certainly one of my favs....i really like peter falico, i love the way he explains what he is doing...seems more like dealing with a designer in real life as so far i have not seen any drama for deadlines and such in that show. I give it a thumbs up....but again i was also a fan of this small space and home to go

turned their garage into a family room. Works really well actually -- makes for a huge room with tv, stereo, etc. Myself, I'd probably keep it a garage just to keep the car out of the weather. Nonetheless, their FR is very useable and was a good choice for them and their lifestyle.
SusanB...you can still have a garage where you can park your car and it and have it over the top...i did it...and it had to be the most fun project i ever did...
I always record a show, almost never watch it 'live'. We have the ExpressVu PVR, so it's easy, but you could use a VCR to tape. I save them all up and watch them Saturday & Sunday mornings.
I'm also enjoying his new show and seeing him on tv again, he seems so calm and down to earth unlike some of the more hyperactive types they have on.
I'm having a hard time with the new H&H times also, it comes on during the daytime when I am rarely home.
Saw the show about romantic homes and I didn't see the whole thing but wasn't very impressed. Hate the time slots they just don't work for me.
