A Friendly Buyer Beware Alert: I noticed that H&H promotes this site on their site this week - and I just wanted to let you all know of my experience with a couple of their products. We purchased a "pewter finished" (supposedly) Bathroom towel rod set - and matching accessories. We noticed that within the first few weeks the finish started wearing off the towel rod. After 5 phone calls and 3 emails to their customer service dept, someone finally called us back - apparently, they suggest you do not hang wet towels on the bars as they are "decorative pieces" and not to be used functionally. Yet, nowhere on their packaging was this stated. We spent $148.06 on all of this only to be told it's not "functional", only decorative. The soap dish comes off the stem quite easily - it's only glued on. We've since had to replace the soap dish as it refuses to stay mounted on the stem. I tried to return them to Kent Building supplies where we bought them - they refused as they were more than 30 days old. They would exchange, not refund - but I didn't want another of the same problem. Kent does not stand behind their products anymore than Umbra did. Umbra also refused to refund or exchange the product. They wanted me to send it back to them at MY expense, and if they found it to be a faulty product, only then would they refund me. We chose to buy a much better quality set from another company. Lesson I learned - when you purchase anything that is claimed to be a metal finish - ASK WHETHER IT'S FUNCTIONAL OR DECORATIVE. We might be out $150 but I will warn others of the mistake I made. If I help ONE person, I'll be happy! :-)
Happy Shopping.
