used appliances

Has anyone bought used appliances b4? I am looking at purchasing a dishwasher and microwave/rangehood off Kijiji. The appliances are being sold b/c they are renovating and replacing with stainless steel.

I remember we purchased used washer/dryer when we were first married but it was from a store that offered a warranty.

Am I nuts for thinking about going with appliances that are a year old?

I have been in seach also for a used fridge to put in the cottage and am quite leary about purchasing used for the fear that the appliances are older than what the owner has specified. I am north of Newmarket if anyone has a fridge.

A friend of mine was/is selling her stove on Kijiji, I haven't asked if it sold lately. It was used for 1.5 years and looks in brand new conditon. She only wants $300 for it even though she paid about twice that price and I know it was on there for a while with no calls at all. It's a great deal but I think people are leery about buying appliances like that because they probably think the stove is on its last legs or something.

sometimes my thought process misfires and I think/ask the wierdest things!

I would have thought the same thing too...:)

We recently bought a ceramic top stove from a seller on a used site. And I love it. It was a good deal, well taken care of, and exactly what we wanted but at a fraction of buying new. I guess you quite never know if the appliance runs well and that runs the risk when buying used.

what would you do if the house came with appliances? youd keep them, probably .... so what's the difference with Kijiji? go look at them, if you like them, leave a deposit (get a receipt) and make arrangements to pick them up ..

my house is full of Kijiji appliances ! stove (24") was $100, and if it had ever been turned on, I would be surprised; washer an dryer, couple bought a new house that had a gas hookup, and bought a new set - I got the set for $400, and they are immaculate, and included the hoses!

I am always amazed to hear about people that make decisions to renovate 1 year after purchasing appliances!
But....they probably are not worried about the money that they are losing on the appliances and they may still be under some type of warranty. Could be a winning situation for you.
