Vanity Insanity

This show is airing right now on GLOBAL TV ( channel 3 ) in Ontario. There is this woman on there, who has had 50 plastic surgery, and you should see the state of her, she looks like a frog, and half her face is paralysed.

Her daughter is following in her footsteps as well now, and had 4 done, the shows looks at other people as well. The question is, how far would you go, and would you even consider it because society is defining what beauty is supposed to be, especially to women.

Why not just let nature take it's course?

I can sort of imagine what people will be watching in the next 10yrs, more Idol shows, Reality TV crap, and more house renovations ;) I like the way DOVE has gone with it's adverts on TV and on Billboards with the whole campaign for real beauty thing.

The first time I saw the boards with the bigger and older ladies, I was really happy to see that, and even stopped for a minute to look at the boards. In a lot of countries round the world, fuller women are actually the epitomy of beauty.

A day like yesterday, international women's day, will be a time to take a stance and say NO to all this magazine malarky about skinny girls and women, that have been photoshoped.

The amount of time we've seen celebrities of vacation, showing cellulite

This is a company that sells other products that continue to use the "perfect body" models to sell them (Axe for example). Let's face it, they are now cashing in on the backlash from women fed up with the impossible to attain body images that have been crammed down our throats for years.

And it is mainly because of shows like these. Too bad people keep tuning into this crap. Can you imagine what people will be watching in the next ten years if television keeps going in the current direction? Scary!

when people get that many surgeries, than its beyond wanting to look good, i see that as an illness or addiction. I wont judge people that do it, however it is not for me....and trust me i could use many improvements lol The only time i see using cosmetic surgery is for nessecity, when disfiguration is caused by a accident or such. There is just way too many side effects and things that could go wrong with any surgery, i just dont see that it is worth the risk.

I find that whole cosmetic surgery thing horrible. In order to feel beautiful you really have to like yourself. If you are confident and happy with who you are it shows in the way you carry yourself. It's also important to set a good example for your kids! Exercise, fresh air and good eating habits can take years off a person! This whole media glamorama thing needs to stop! It makes so many women feel insecure.
